The St. Louis Blues are putting Jordan Kyrou on the trade block and the Toronto Maple Leafs have everything they need to make a blockbuster deal. Jordan Kyrou is a three-time 30-goal scorer who is on the trade block according to Jeremy Rutherford. But his price won't be cheap, and it's going to cost GM John Chayka a king's ransom that will cost him Easton Cowan, Nick Robertson, and a first. He better hope things work out in the end. With news that Minnesota offered Jesper Wallstedt and Danila Yurov to St. Louis for Robert Thomas, Toronto could offer a similar deal to finally help Auston Matthews. The Minnesota Wild were interested in acquiring Robert Thomas this past trade deadline for Jesper Wallstedt and rookie Danila Yurov but St. Louis said no. That tells the Maple Leafs the price they need to pay to acquire him with Dennis Hildeby and Easton Cowan + Avs 1st 2027 headed out. Do you do it?

Fans laughing at #Blackhawks offering the #Leafs 4th overall pick for Matthew Knies suffer from serious "Mystery Box Syndrome." People get hung up on draft pedigree because Knies was a late 2nd-rounder, completely ignoring the player he actually became. Knies is a 6'3", 235lb power-forward unicorn on a trajectory for 30+ goals and 70+ points. He’s young, cost-controlled, and exactly what every contender starves for. Meanwhile, some fans think a 4th overall pick is a potential superstar. Sure, but not always, there's just as many busts there as players that end up as good or better than Knies. You could easily be getting someone like these 4th overall picks: • Griffin Reinhart • Thomas Hickey • Jesse Puljujarvi Yes you could also draft a Mitch Marner, Cale Makar, Brady Tkachuk etc Draft picks are lottery tickets. Knies is a proven, top-line modern power forward. Kyle Davidson trading an unknown asset to put a guaranteed monster next to Bedard isn't crazy.. it’s just smart asset management. Gamble vs the guarantee. I love Knies, i wouldn't be jumping for joy to lose him even for 4th overall. 4th overall means the Leafs can draft a potential #1C in Maholtra or #1D potentially in Verhoeff or Carels, smidts etc.. But there's no guarantee any of those guys reach that type of ceiling . That's what chicago is avoiding in making a deal like that. It also cccelerates their window in hoping to keep Bedard long term by starting to win now vs waiting 2-3 years for the 4th overall pick to be ready to be a difference maker in the NHL. Interesting proposal either way.

@berezin_goal Keep Cowan JT trade the D if it's worth it. Trade Matthews if he's leaving to Sj for 2nd overall plus plus. Trade Knies for 4th overall plus plus. Draft mckenna stenburg and Alberts. Adding maybe Frondell and Eklund.

The Maple Leafs now have four assets that are likely worth a ton on the trade market. Matthews Knies Nylander McKenna Cowan, Tavares, OEL, Tanev and McCabe likely have decent trade value. Building up assets of value is the key to avoiding a long and miserable rebuild.

Whoever the Leafs pick at 1OA they need a 6’5 total unit from Etobicoke who’s dad Steve had a cup of coffee in the GTHL and scored an OT winner in a meaningless preseason game and hadn’t stopped celebrating until last year when he finally went to rehab (According to Steve)

locker room is when they play Montreal & their reporters come in, at the start of training camp, & at the end of the season. The number is usually less than half that. The pressure comes from the fanbase, who expect the #Leafs to win, and like fans, get upset when they don't.

Pat Maroon's comments about it being tough to play for the #Leafs are quite hilarious. The number he quoted was 25 media members. As someone who has covered the team for over 15 years and at times as a daily beat reporter, I can tell you the only time 25 reporters are in the....
