@mulder_cin4ever @kathykarrott @More_Sanditon She was in love with him before, but this is the moment when she realizes how deeply compatible they are. He has become exactly the right husband for her, exactly the man she wants as a life partner (unlike Ralph). She already cared about him, now she admires and respects him.

@mulder_cin4ever @kathykarrott @More_Sanditon Whenever I watch this scene, I'm always reminded of this quote from Pride and Prejudice: "She began now to comprehend that he was exactly the man who...would most suit her. His understanding and temper, though unlike her own, would have answered all her wishes."

@msausten5 Agreed. It was honestly one of the best performances I've ever seen, and I don't say that lightly. I am very picky when it comes to what types of acting resonate with me, especially in period dramas. Why it wasn't a Colin Firth's Darcy-level career catalyst I'll never know.

@MissCurrerBell Watched the deleted scene and reread the same article a couple of days ago. I was just so impressed at how much BLH cared for, and understood AC. Still don't get why he doesn't get more credit as an actor. #BLH #Heybourne #MoreSanditon

I'd seen excerpts from this #Sanditon interview on the Masterpiece website about #AlexanderColbourne at the series' end, but somehow (don't ask me how) I'd never read the whole thing. When I finally did, it honestly made me so emotional. (1/4)

I mean, if that thought doesn't make you 🥹I don't know what will! Truly, #Heybourne is the ship that keeps on giving. 🩷🩷 (4/4)

He doesn't need to hide anymore, he can finally abandon his guilt and shame and meet Society with confidence and pride. He did a lot of work on himself between S2 and S3, and now the last piece of the puzzle has fallen into place. He's finally whole. (3/4)

That’s quite a lot of heavy lifting for such a short scene! What are your thoughts on this scene? Do you think the Colbourne family will be doing a lot of pond trawling together in future? (23/23)

It does such a great job laying the groundwork for their rapport and heartfelt connection later, and also with establishing the germs of the strong father-daughter relationship we see with AC and Leo in S3. (22/23)

After our fun last week I’m back in scene analysis mode, so let’s do another one! On the docket today is the #Heybourne “malacologists” scene from #Sanditon S2 Ep2. (1/23)
