@AaronBastani The Iranian clerical leadership has never really cared about the Palestinians. For Iran, Palestinians have been useful idiots - hence the Palestinians have failed to even appear in Irans current peace proposal talks in Islamabad.

Palestine mattered to the Islamic Republic because (a) it gave them prestige in the Arab street, and even plausible leadership in the region despite being a Shia Persian country (b) because they believed in it. The truth is, though, the political return has been a disaster.
History of Khorâsân and the Persianate World@BiruniKhorasan

Iran needs to drop the Palestinian cause for good: if they support it, they get trashed for not being honest. If they don’t, they get trashed for not showing interest. Lose-lose situation. This is clearly an Arab issue and Arabs need to play a prominent role in solving it.

Zack Polanski has some nerve calling Reform hateful. The Greens have become a magnet for cranks and bigots. Activists and candidates have been exposed as virulent anti-Semites. Don’t let him get away with it, says Tom Slater buff.ly/2X20DOd

“Their lives actually matter to some people,” flounces Owen Jones - having spent the last three years advocating for the singularly most self-destructive policy that Palestinians could have followed, direct warfare with Israel. That policy cost 70,000 Palestinian lives.

@HalaJaber Maybe the Iranian delegation should have thought about the Minab school children when they trained Hamas fighters to invade Israel on October 7th 2023.

Look at the difference. The Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, carried with them images of the Minab schoolchildren who were killed, along with some of their belongings, as they travelled to Islamabad. A visible act of remembrance. A statement of solidarity. By contrast, Lebanon’s president today could not bring himself to take even a minimal stance, no refusal, no delay, not even a symbolic gesture, in the face of the killing of his own officers & people earlier that same day, choosing instead to move forward with direct contact with the Israeli side through his ambassador in Washington.

@HKX37 Britain bombed Germany before the Nazi Party existed, too. It’s in the nature of wars that they are not all the same. Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982 because the Palestinian Liberation Organisation attacked Israel from Lebanon.

Since I started writing about sex pseudoscience, critics dismiss my arguments because I mainly published in popular news outlets instead of academic journals. Well, my scholarly article "Why There Are Exactly Two Sexes" published last year is now the most-read academic article on the subject. Only one scholar has written a formal critique of it, but from a "feminist epistemology" perspective. It was laughably nonsensical. I responded (link below). I am still waiting for a biologist who thinks I'm wrong to expose and embarrass me with formal, detailed take-down of my arguments. If I'm nothing more than an anti-trans bigot promoting "junk science," as the SPLC has claimed, publicly demolishing my supposedly crank views should be seen as a public service. And it should also be an easy way to add to your academic résumé. @spikedonline @ProfDHayes Truth is, Britain has paid slavery reparations, they paid for the freedom of tens of thousands of slaves. Advocates of slavery reparations argue the slaves got nothing - that’s not true - slaves under British rule got emancipation - freedom is priceless.

@dlLambo If the airman had been captured, you would be crowing. And if he had been captured and not been on the front page, you would be alleging a cover-up. That’s why it’s front page news. Because today people are following this story to see how it turns out.

Campaign Against Antisemitism
Campaign Against Antisemitism@antisemitism·
The Prime Minister is right to be deeply concerned that @WirelessFest wants to headline someone whose anti-Jewish bigotry has gone as far as recording a track titled ‘Heil Hitler’ less than a year ago. But the Prime Minister is not a bystander. The Government can ban anyone from entering the UK who is not a citizen and whose presence would ‘not be conducive to the public good’. Surely this is a clear case. @pepsi has done the right thing by dropping its sponsorship of the festival, but if management are adamant that they want to headline Kanye West, it is only the Government that can stop them. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Campaign Against Antisemitism@antisemitism

Kanye West is set to headline all three nights of Wireless festival this year, here in the UK. It would mark his return to the UK music scene after an eleven-year hiatus, since headlining at Glastonbury in 2015. Since then, he has dedicated years of his life to trying to incite his followers to hate Jews. He has more followers than there are Jews on Earth, so his incitement has a huge impact. It is disappointing that venues have been so quick to invite someone who was so recently peddling conspiracy theories, Hitler worship and bigoted lies – including now one of the UK’s biggest festival stages. His cycle of apology and relapse has become a routine, and we must wait to see if this time is any different. What is notable is that the latest apology came on the eve of the release of a new album. If he remains on the right path and makes more effort to make amends, that is well and good, but if he returns to his old ways these venues, including Wireless, will have much to answer for.
