“Every single word that the Prime Minister just said is applicable to every single march that has taken place in our towns and cities since 7th October 2023. “He will not tolerate it? He tolerated it for the twenty months of his premiership so far…He made a whole range of commitments and he’s fallen at the first hurdle because this hateful march is going ahead.” CAA’s @SSilvUK speaks to @TalkTV’s Kevin O’Sullivan about tomorrow’s hate march.

Numerous trade unions are backing the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) week of action – including tomorrow’s annual ‘Nakba’ march. Many unions have actively promoted and encouraged their members to engage with the week’s events. We have been contacted by members of several different organisations who, unaware of their union’s support for the campaign, are outraged. Unison is the UK’s largest trade union, whose members work largely in the public sector. It is backing tomorrow’s ‘Nakba’ march. But many of its members are horrified. One told us: “No, UNISON did not ask for my views or consult me in any way before sending this material. I certainly did not expect my membership fees to be used for political campaigning or activities of this nature.” They added: “the union should focus on representing workers interests rather than promoting political agendas that many members may not agree with.” ASLEF is the UK Train Drivers’ Union, which posted promotional material for the ‘Nakba’ march from their Facebook account. Many members commented below the post to voice their disagreement. One comment reads: “As a member of ASLEF for 12 years, I can assure you this nonsense does NOT represent me.” Another wrote “Aslef should be keeping well away from Palestine issues. I am now considering cancelling my membership.” Yet another said: “This is a very divisive subject which has nothing to do with the workers union.” Union bosses may be excited by these hateful movements. Not so their members. The Communication Workers Union has also reportedly promoted support for the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, unbeknownst to its members. One member contacted us in frustration at not feeling represented by such ideology, but refrained from speaking out for fear of jeopardising their position. There is an irony that workers are worried to speak out because of repercussions not from their employers but from the unions whose first and only interest is supposed to be to protect them. These are just a few examples. These unions are meant to represent their members and advocate for their rights in the workplace. Involvement in polarising, divisive and often hateful issues undermines the solidarity and sense of shared purpose for which these unions were originally established.

On 15th May 1882, the Russian Empire enacted the May Laws. The May Laws followed the outbreak of deadly pogroms in the Russian Empire in 1881. The May Laws provided numerous new harsh, restrictive measures against Jews living in the Pale of Settlement in the Russian Empire. These included a decree which specified that Jews would be “forbidden to settle anew outside of towns and boroughs”, temporarily forbidden from receiving mortgages and forbidden from conducting business on Sundays and other Christian holy days. Further legislation saw quotas on Jews being implemented, such as the amount of Jews allowed into universities. The May Laws lasted for thirty years before being rescinded in 1917.

We have sent a letter to Gaunson Creative Studios regarding an upcoming exhibition entitled ‘Jamie Wagg in conversation with Matthew Collings’, which they are due to host this Sunday. We have urged the venue to reconsider this event. Our concerns have arisen due to a clear and escalating pattern of deeply concerning conduct associated with Mr Collings’ work and public statements – such as the recent “Drawings Against Genocide” exhibition in Margate, Kent, which included depictions of prominent Jewish public figures, including one of the French–Israeli owner of Sotherby’s auction house, with blood dripping from his mouth alongside the words “Hey look I’m selling a fantastic painting, while eating a baby alive.” The paintings also juxtaposed stars of David – the best-known symbol of Judaism and the emblem of the state of Israel – with Nazi imagery. When we drew these concerns to Thanet Council, they removed a promotion for the exhibition from their website. We believe it is profoundly irresponsible for Gaunson Creative Studios to proceed with this event and provide Mr Collings with a further public platform for his hate-filled imagery and statements. At the very least, cultural institutions and venues such as this one should heed the Prime Minister’s recent exhortation to do more in the fight against antisemitism, which is currently at levels unknown in living memory.

“Viva Hamas & Hezbollah” “F*** ‘Israel’”. This potentially criminal graffiti was recently found in Hackney Wick, east London. Graffiti or rhetoric which seeks to demonise Zionists as evil by equating Zionism to criminality, or professes support for proscribed terrorist organisations responsible for the deaths of thousands, has become all too common in the past two and a half years. We ask @HackneyCouncil to take the appropriate action and remove them.

Western student activists have developed an insatiable hatred for Jews. During the graduation ceremony at New York University (NYU), a flag, which appears to be an inverted Israeli flag combining the Star of David – the most recognisable symbol of the Jewish faith – and the Nazi swastika, was flown. The building it was reportedly waved over was named for a Jewish donor to the school. Student activists are rightly disgusted by anything resembling Nazism, but they themselves revel in it when it comes to Jews – the nation against whom the Nazis actually committed an actual genocide. This is more than a blind spot: it is blind hatred. Some of the worst antisemitism in history began at universities. This is incitement and the university and the New York Police Department must open an investigation and hold perpetrators to account. nytimes.com/2026/05/14/nyr…

On Sunday, we asked 7 non-Jewish people: if you could ask a Jewish person one question, what would it be? We then asked those questions to 7 Jews at the community rally. This is what they said.

With assistance from CAA, charges have been dropped against Mark Birbeck and Kurpa Patel. On 11th November 2025, Bob Vylan performed at the O2 Forum Kentish Town. Outside the venue, the Metropolitan Police imposed section 14 conditions on protesters, including designating an area for protest. @MarkBirbeck and @KurpaPatel, of @OurFightUk, attended separately to declare that they “will walk the streets as Zionists.” Mr Birbeck wore a T-shirt reading, “Some people are Zionist — get over it.” Although both explained that they were not part of the main protest, they were arrested for allegedly refusing to enter the designated protest area. The Met later stated that two people “from the protest” had been arrested. That claim was incorrect and indeed was later contradicted by the protest organisers. Both Mr Birbeck and Ms Patel spent hours in custody. Ms Patel was charged the next day with breaching section 14 conditions. Mr Birbeck was charged three months later, and their cases were joined in the magistrates’ court. With CAA’s support, detailed legal representations were submitted on behalf of both defendants. Now, six months after the arrests and just six weeks before trial, the CPS has confirmed that proceedings against both Mr Birbeck and Ms Patel have been discontinued on the basis that there is “not enough evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction”. Quite. Although disappointed that the matter progressed this far, both Mr Birbeck and Ms Patel say they will not be deterred. They thank their legal team, their supporters, and CAA for its continued assistance. If you want to support this sort of work – so that CAA can stand up for our non-Jewish allies who stand up for the Jewish community – you can make a donation at charityextra.com/fundthefight/c…. Your donation will be doubled.

One of the main fronts in the fight against antisemitism is social media. When so-called ‘influencers’ like Dan & Ish make videos targeting Jews with antisemitic pranks just for clicks, we step in. We got them removed from platforms and dropped by sponsors. If you want more of this, we need you to Fund The Fight! Donations will be doubled! charityextra.com/fundthefight/c…
