“One of the most reputable scholars in Egypt and the Middle East.” This is how Hounslow Jamia Masjid, a London mosque, described Egyptian preacher Yusri Jabar, whom it hosted on 12th-13th July. Mr Jabar has reportedly delivered antisemitic lectures in which he repeatedly called for the murder of Jews. He has also referred to Jews as “enemies of the faith” and “the false messiahs of this era.” Mr Jabar has just concluded a UK tour, during which he was invited to speak at mosques in London, Birmingham and Peterborough. He was also reportedly hosted by Hounslow Jamia Masjid in May 2023, when he allegedly accused Jews of “posing as ayatollahs,” and deemed them “evil.” So why didn't the Home Office revoke Mr Jabar’s visa? Ahead of his planned tour, Labour and Conservative MPs reportedly urged the Home Secretary to prevent Mr Jabar from entering the UK in light of his record of incitement. Despite cross-party concern, this call was not heeded. Now, it falls to the @ChtyCommission to investigate what steps two of these mosques, which are registered charities, took to avoid becoming platforms for hate.

British Government bans Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyah, also known as the Islamic Movement of Companions of the Right (IMCR). In the coverage of the ban of the IRGC, another important proscription has been overlooked. The IMCR has also been outlawed by the British Government. The IMCR has claimed responsibility for a spate of attacks against the Jewish community in Britain earlier this year, including the firebombing of the Hatzola ambulances in Golders Green and the other arson attacks on Jewish sites across London. The group has also claimed responsibility for attacks on Jews across Europe, and even for the stabbing attack in Golders Green – although police reportedly dispute the group’s connection to that latter attack. We welcome IMCR’s proscription. It is only surprising that it has taken this long even as Jewish institutions were being targeted on an almost daily basis. Anyone glorifying, supporting, assisting or acting for the IMCR must face the full force of the law. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/07/1…

On the same day that the Government pledged over £250 million in extra police funding to protect the Jewish community, it also announced it will proscribe Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). CAA’s Chief Executive, @GideonFalter, explains what this all means for Jews in Britain.

“This time it must be different. This funding will only help if it is accompanied by a change in government and law enforcement attitudes. “The ‘Britifada’ is disfiguring our country beyond all recognition and Jews have now paid with their lives.” Read the full piece by CAA’s Chief Executive, @GideonFalter, for @GBNEWS below. gbnews.com/opinion/britai…

Last week, CAA hosted an intimate evening of Jewish pride, music, and conversation. The soprano we hosted had enjoyed a career which took her to concert halls and theatres around the world, showcasing her remarkable talent. This all changed after 7th October 2023, when her refusal to stay silent in the face of hatred and lies resulted in her increasingly being shunned and excluded from the profession she loves. The arts are becoming an increasingly hostile space for Jewish artists, and this performer’s testimony is no different. CAA is dedicated to defending those standing firm against hate in the arts; this is why we hosted the event, and we are proud to do so. On the evening, we were privileged to hear a carefully curated programme of operatic arias as well as beloved Jewish melodies. It was an evening of hope. In conversation with our Director of Investigations and Enforcement, Stephen Silverman, our guest shared optimism that one day this unprecedented wave of hatred will pass. She hopes to return to the stage, accepted not just as an exceptionally gifted performer, but as a proud Jew. We are grateful to those of you who chose to join us to show your support for Jews in the arts – which they so desperately need in these times.

Once again, it appears that so-called inclusive spaces are only inclusive for some. Irish music festival Rewild issued a statement banning those who have served or currently serve in the Israeli Defence Forces from attending. In their statement, the festival references a planned attendee who was allegedly a former Israeli soldier. Referring to the “Israeli Occupation Forces” (IOF), the statement reads: “Current or former members of the IOF are not welcome at Rewild and will not be permitted to participate in the festival, and that was made clear.” According to its website, Rewild claims to be “a space where everyone can come together”, but apparently that excludes any Israeli who has performed their obligatory national service. Conscription is compulsory in Israel, so this ban seems to simply be xenophobia masquerading as progressivism. jewishnews.co.uk/irish-festival…

The British Government will proscribe Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). This is welcome, and our polling shows that 93% of British Jews wanted the IRGC to be proscribed. However, it is a shameful sign of how far behind our country has fallen that this measure has taken years, despite our calls, along with the calls of Iranian dissidents in the UK and security chiefs. Now, the Government needs to crack down on organisations linked to the IRGC, rooting them out and shutting them down to stop the spread of hate in our country. Glorifying and celebrating terror must have consequences. IRGC fronts masquerading as charities must be shut down. Anything less than the full force of the law being applied to these groups and individuals is a grotesque failure to defend our country.

A viral interview showed a Jewish man who said that “there is nothing hard about being Jewish right now”, arguing that focus should instead be on Palestinian people. Now, we’re exposing something that viewers weren’t told: He is an activist furthering an anti-Israel agenda.

The Government has announced that it will invest over £250 million in additional funding for police forces across England to protect the Jewish community. This will include increased police presence in Jewish neighbourhoods, at synagogues, schools and community centres. For twelve years, we have been calling for focused policing targeting growing extremism here in Britain. In that time, policing has manifestly failed to meet the threats from Islamist terrorism along with the extremism of the far-left and far-right. We have been warning that the longer police and politicians appease these dangerous radicals, the worse the situation will become. Today’s announcement of additional funding for policing to protect the Jewish community will benefit the community in the short term. However, the fact that the cost to keep Jews safe is now a quarter of a billion pounds over three years is evidence of how abjectly successive governments have failed to bring radicalism and Jew hatred under control. The situation is now dire. This funding will only help if it is accompanied by a change in government and law enforcement attitudes. They need to tackle the extremists proactively at source, not just build ever-higher walls around Jewish communities and put ever-increasing numbers of police outside synagogues. The ‘Britifada’ is disfiguring our country beyond all recognition and Jews have now paid with their lives. Existing laws need to be brought to bear on those fomenting the danger on our doorstep and the Government needs to recognise that political grandstanding abroad feeds the danger here at home. If police and politicians do not act forcefully now, this funding will have been wasted, the problem will grow to even more unmanageable proportions, and more Jews will lose their safety and even their lives.

The National Security (State Threats) Act has received Royal Assent. It’s now time to proscribe the IRGC For two years, the Government has prevaricated on proscribing Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), claiming that it needed to pass new legislation in order to ban a state entity like the IRGC. Not everyone agreed, but still we waited. Now the legislation has passed, and there is no time to lose. Iranian-linked proxies have claimed responsibility for attacks on the Jewish community, including the arson attack on Hatzola ambulances, not to mention attacks around the world, and the IRGC itself has been blamed for numerous plots on British soil. CAA polling shows that 93% of British Jews believe the British Government should proscribe the IRGC. The IRGC must now be banned and treated like any other proscribed terrorist group. Glorification of the IRGC must be criminalised, and its supporters in the UK must be imprisoned. We must take turn the tide against extremism in this country. gov.uk/government/pub…

On this day in 1906, Captain Alfred Dreyfus was officially exonerated, bringing an end to one of the most infamous antisemitic scandals in French history. Captain Alfred Dreyfus, a Jewish officer in the French army, was wrongly accused and convicted of espionage. The case, based on forged evidence and driven by deep-rooted antisemitism, sparked public outrage and divided French society. Despite overwhelming proof of his innocence, Dreyfus was imprisoned for years while the real culprit remained free. It took over a decade of public pressure, legal battles, and courageous advocacy before Dreyfus was finally cleared and reinstated. The Dreyfus Affair remains a chilling example of how antisemitism can corrupt justice. Today, we remember Captain Dreyfus and the importance of standing up for truth.

On this day – 11th July 1942 – a roundup of 9,000 Jewish men in Salonika, Greece occurred. On the Saturday morning, organised by the German occupation authorities and the Governorate-General of Macedonia, Jewish men between eighteen and 45 were forcibly rounded up at the Eleftherias Square. The men were forced to break Shabbat through forced labour, physical abuse and humiliating exercises in the blazing heat, which led to many collapsing from exhaustion and some even died. Afterwards, thousands were arrested and sent to forced labour projects with the German Army. Known as the ‘Black Sabbath’ or ‘Black Saturday’, it is regarded as the catalyst for the eradication of Salonika’s once-thriving Jewish community. Between the 16th and 20th centuries, Salonika was reportedly the only European city with a Jewish majority. Today, we remember the victims.

Andy Burnham has yet to say something substantive on antisemitism during his campaign to win the backing of his Labour colleagues to become Prime Minister. We are seeing the worst levels of racism against Jews in our lifetime, and Jewish blood has repeatedly been spilled on our streets. So it’s alarming that Mr Burnham’s first intervention on the subject is a passing reference in an announcement relating to a foreign conflict, which he himself insists should not be connected to the fight against antisemitism. Why is a foreign conflict a more pressing matter for Mr Burnham than the domestic threat that British Jews face right here at home? The fact is that successive Prime Ministers have been pressured to appease the extremist mob that demands that our leaders treat the tiny faraway Jewish state as though it is the most important matter to us here in Britain. If you appease the mob, you just get more extremism. These foreign policy announcements are unlikely to change matters in the Middle East but they are music to the ears of the same extremists and Islamists responsible for surging Jew-hatred here in Britain. At a time when Jews are being stabbed and killed on the streets of Britain, we need our leaders to face down extremists, not excite them. Politicians must name the sources of antisemitism and confront those who spread it. It is literally a matter of life and death for British Jews. Mr Burnham appears to be about to become Prime Minister. The time for political grandstanding is over, and he must recognise that his first priority is the safety of British people in this country. That must include the Jews. If Mr Burnham wishes to be a ‘change’ Prime Minister, that can begin with doing what neither of his two predecessors did: robustly tackle antisemitism and extremism in his country.

Finally, some real sentencing. Shafiq Rahman, 48, was sentenced today at Reading Crown Court to sixteen months in prison in relation to an incident in April 2026, in which he called an Orthodox Jewish man a “dirty motherf***ing Jew” and threatened to break his jaw. The sentence reflects numerous offences which Mr Rahman admitted in court, including racially aggravated common assault, fear or provocation of violence by words. This is the sort of deterrence that we need to see against antisemitic criminals. If you engage in unprovoked, aggressive abuse of someone because they are Jewish, you have a speedy trial and you go to prison. That is the only way to start to turn the tide of the worst levels of antisemitic hate crime in our lifetimes.

“You dirty motherf***ing Jew.” We are working to identify this thug who violently assaulted a Jewish man shouting “baby killer” at him. No mention of “Zionists” here. This is Jew-hatred without its disguise. This violent assault was captured by a visibly Jewish man who was going about his work. This is the current climate in the UK which has been bred by the inaction and appeasement from the authorities. Jews going about their daily lives are not safe from being subjected to vile assault and violent threats. This incident took place on Monday, 20th April at 16:20 on Elliman Avenue in Slough, SL2 5AZ. If anyone has further information, we urge you to contact the Thames Valley Police immediately using crime reference number 43260192511.

This was not the only group of supporters who blamed the Jews for their team’s World Cup loss. Following Egypt’s loss against Argentina in a Round of 16 match, a Bangladesh-based user reportedly edited the Wikipedia page of referee François Letexier to indicate that he was Jewish. Mr Letexier has faced online harassment from fans over decisions that he made during the game which are perceived by some to have favoured Argentina. The reference was eventually removed from the website due to lack of evidence. An Egyptian Football Association official reportedly fanned the flames by suggesting that Egypt’s elimination was driven by biased refereeing due to coach Hossam Hassan’s public support for Palestine. An Egyptian YouTuber reportedly posted a video to his 300,000 followers claiming that Egypt had “lost to Zionism”, citing Argentine President Javier Milei’s public support for Israel. Good sportsmanship and grace in defeat have given way to antisemitic conspiracy theories. Even in this day and age, so many communities rush to blame the Jews for their misfortunes. That is not what the World Cup is supposed to be about. thejc.com/news/world/wik…

“All Jews are gay! Hamas! Hamas! Send the Jews back to the gas chambers!” Fans of one World Cup loser after another are blaming – you guessed it – the Jews for their team’s defeats. In The Hague, following the defeat of Morocco to France in a World Cup Quarter Final game last night, videos have surfaced which, according to Dutch newspaper 𝘋𝘦 𝘛𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘢𝘧, appear to show supporters of the Morocco chanting the slogans: “Alle joden zijn homo’s” and “Hamas Hamas, joden aan het gas”, which translate to “All Jews are gay!” [using a homophobic slur] and  “Hamas! Hamas! Send the Jews back to the gas chambers!” Remember the Maccabi Tel Aviv ban, when its supporters in the UK (including West Midlands Police) tried to portray an antisemitic pogrom in Amsterdam as somehow the Jews’s fault?
