Hello, my name is Gene. I founded NGKsSystems and I am a solo developer. I started this journey because I could not get a banner for YouTube that actually fit and displayed properly. I tried 100 different sites and apps, but none gave me the results I wanted. So I built my own app to do this seemingly impossible task. This was the first app I had ever built. It took forever just learning a fraction of what I needed to learn. In the end, it was a complete success. I was able to build something nobody else had. The app itself never made me a dime. The process of creating it however, lit a fire in me. cont. More on this story soon.

This is the last time I will do this (unless it isn't). I had to deactivate my original business X page. I repurposed another page I has started years ago. It is the same @NGKsSystems as the other one. Please if you don't mind give this one a follow too. Like love or leave? 1948 Ford Anglia 331 Ford V8

2 of 12 After all the screaming, yelling, and crying, I still wanted to build something else. Enter the next story. I was trying to create music and videos. This was about a year and a half ago, and in that field, by today's standards it was still primitive. I would buy $50 worth of tokens and start generating content. The result wasn't good, so I'd generate again. Still not good. Generate again. Before long I was out of tokens and out of money. So I was broke and didn't even get the t-shirt. I tried several of the big platforms and got the same results everywhere. Pay for the attempt, results be damned. That's when I said to myself, self we're going to build our own. Not charge by the iteration, charge by the output. "No Bad Takes" was what I called it...

Post #3 of 12 "No Bad Takes" was a great concept, and it's one I still plan to pursue. I pushed through almost every challenge, and the application was largely complete. The one hurdle I couldn't overcome was generating long-form videos efficiently. Creating longer videos meant generating a short clip, feeding it back into the AI to extend it, then repeating that process over and over. It worked in theory, but in practice it quickly ran into performance and VRAM limitations. The technology simply wasn't mature enough yet. "I told you that story to tell you this one." But building the app taught me something far more valuable. I kept running into roadblock after roadblock. CMake was constantly delivering uppercuts. Build environments would randomly break. One day it was MSVC, the next it was CMD, then PowerShell. It felt like I was spending more time fighting my development tools than actually building software. I remember thinking, "Why does it have to be this way?" Was it just me? No, it wasn't. Developers everywhere were dealing with the same frustrations. Instead of trying to work around the problem, I started asking a different question: "Can I build something that fixes it?" More on that next

If everyone had access to unlimited funding… what would still make some founders fail?

Here is a great one liner for those using npm Remove all `node_modules` folders recursively (great for freeing up space): Get-ChildItem -Path . -Recurse -Directory -Filter node_modules | Remove-Item -Recurse -Force *******Use carefully.**********

Something’s going on and I’m not sure what it is. People have been telling me that immediately after they post they all of a sudden get 1K or even 5K impressions. And the impressions don’t come along with engagement one would expect, like replies or likes. I just noticed it’s also happening to me. The image below shows I had 1,100 impressions in less than a minute. That is very unusual. Anybody know what’s going on?

@byryangambrell That would be great. X for coders has largely become just engagement farming.

How many founders would benefit from a free community full of: People around them who actually get it. Resources that help them move faster. Somewhere to get real answers when they are stuck. Comment on this post if you think this would benefit you in anyway.

Tired of messy git logs? Clean them up instantly for any project size: git log --oneline --graph --decorate --all Works whether you're solo on one repo or juggling 20+ at work. Pro tip: Add this alias so you never type it again: [alias] tree = log --oneline --graph --decorate --all Save it in ~/.gitconfig What’s your favorite git alias? (Reply with it — I’ll test the good ones)
