@actparty How WEAK does a government need to be to let policies supported by 8% of the population pass?

If you're not angry about this government by now, you're not paying attention. Congratulations on your privilege

@Mountain_Tui Why is what LLoyd Burr said behind lock and key? Is it that bad?

In order to stop people from complaining all journalists are left wing, TVNZ should put a properly left wing person as political editor. Create some contrast.

Former National staffer Ani O'Brien was also involved in the muckraking stories surrounding social media posts from then-Green Party MP Benjamin Doyle & Labour leader Chris Hipkins' ex-wife. There's a pattern here that favours those in government & hurts those critical of them.

So Ani O'Brien, ex-National Party staffer, denies Nicola Willis is her source. Credible? Why didn't O'Brien report on Lloyd Burr's slur to Sherman that started the spat? Why did it come out days after National complained about Sherman & wanted her punished? Questions abound

Funny how I baited Ani O’Brien into responding publicly about her reporting and sources in an election year. The fading smear machine is spluttering like an old car leaking oil, and plenty of people are over the spin and the noise. #nzpol

At a party in the Minister of Finance’s office, where one assumes alcohol flowed, there was an exchange between journalists. The aftermath - one was later hounded from her job. The other wasn’t. All in the context of public media being undermined. Shameful.

At what point do we stop pretending our newspapers are ‘news’ and start calling them what they are… Promotional pamphlets for the billionaires who own them and the agendas they’re selling.

Labour ministers were reprimanded for minor critiques of state broadcasters. Current ministers attacks, outrage and suggestions of change at tvnz & rnz happen to be against the law but are also just pathetic & petty. Govt parties would’ve criticised the last govt for far less.

I'm surprised Lloyd Burr hasn't fronted and said what he said, to cause Maiki Sherman to call him names. We've know that a racist slur was used which is just as bad as homophbic slurs Of course Ani O'Brien didn't say in her hit piece because her style is to cause maximum hurt.

Dear @LloydBurr I think in the spirit of openness, you should really make a statement to us, the public about what you said that night in Nicola Willis’ office. I know it’s been a year since it happened but fairs fair.

the message that's got National under 30% is: if you're a student or disabled or a teacher or a nurse or a cop or a doctor or unemployed or homeless or nearing retirement or sick or on minimum wage or in a underpaid female dominated job... you're less important than a landlord
Clint Smith@ClintVSmith

make life harder for young people, who are already facing mass unemployment, by making them take on more debt (then complain they aren't starting families)✅️ take super away from 65 & 66 year olds, hitting the poor hardest✅️ reverse tax cuts for landlords & the rich? ❌️

I think it’s instructive to look at who unleashed that mob, and why. And why only one of the two parties exchanging slurs that night were hounded out of their job.
POLITIK@POLITIKwebsite

The Maiki Sherman lynch mob is frightening. This is the most hostile environment within which to be a political journalist I have known in my 55 years as a journo. The mob is ruling at the moment. They have tasted blood. Who will they turn on next?

@heroesatwork The relationship our current gvt has with our country and it's people is so toxic and abusive, they so clearly hate everything good about it, they choose to lead it to destroy it for a few bucks for themselves. The very worst of people

yeah, I had solar put on two years ago and there was no red tape. one council inspection, which the installer organised. Cost was the only issue - and it's worth it: it'll have paid for itself in 6-7 years.
Jeremy@greytownbuilder

Genuinely baffled by this. We had solar installed a few months ago. Zero red tape. One inspection. Seymour quoted here saying up to seven inspections needed. Has his regulations ministry actually achieved anything or is it just more virtue signalling rnz.co.nz/news/political…
