Copper slumped by the most in five months after President Donald Trump threatened a “massive increase” of tariffs on Chinese goods, in comments that sparked turmoil across financial markets.
Prices slid more than 4% below $10,400 a ton on the London Metal Exchange, wiping out gains that lifted prices towards a record high on Thursday. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

OPEC demand revision. No idea how they still get to 2.1mbpd growth…
„This slight revision reflects actual data” for the first and second quarters, “as well as softening expectations for China’s oil demand growth in 2024,” OPEC’s Vienna-based secretariat said.
Even with the reduction, the organization still sees oil consumption expanding this year by a “healthy” 2.1 million barrels a day, to average 104.3 million a day.

🇨🇳China Jan-Feb crude imports rise on strong holiday travel demand
China's imports of crude oil rose 5.1% in the first two months of 2024 from a year earlier, data showed on Thursday, as refiners ramped up purchases to meet fuel sales during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Imports during January and February amounted to 88.31 million metric tons, or about 10.74 million barrels per day (bpd), according to the General Administration of Customs.
That compared to 10.4 million bpd in the corresponding period last year. (Reuters)

@BurggrabenH any good source on the cost of production in Brazil and in general? Supply is one thing but cost of marginal barrel is also important. Especially when the lowest cost production remains restricted

There is a very good chance Brazil will achieve the 5mbpd crude oil production target by 2028 (exit rate Dec 2023 at 3.9mbpd ex natgas), the more I study it...
Insane line-up:
- most prolific fields are still young, i.e. best yet to come;
- Buzios expansion of 1.4mbpd from current 640kbpd output to 2mbpd by 2027 - let that sink in...!!!!;
- Campos legacy declines won't matter for future field mix;
- outstanding development pipeline; etc.
2Ps are poorly documents by Petrobras; hence Burggraben estimates (OOIP & RF) but I'd rather be roughly right than precisely wrong while Buzios alone may well contain a lot more reserves.
PS: below field numbers based on Kpler data and BGH FPSO/tieback allocation may differ from the most professional ANP field reporting.

Brazil is is an interesting microcosm to study in the oil industry. It's a large, growing consumer of petroleum products. It's the 8th largest producer of crude oil in Dec 2023 as well as a large producer & consumer of biofuels. Most importantly, it's energy agency reports the data in detail & timely (unlike most countries globally). 1/n

@anasalhajji @30KFTView No specific data just the fact that natgas should be either LNG or CNG to be stored and compared to crude there are no easy/cheap solutions as caverns seems to be an explanation.

Serious questions and would appreciate your technical feedback

@anasalhajji @30KFTView Gas is not stored efficiently for long term and large storage facilities are not available and even if they are built will be very expensive.
English

@30KFTView They are not.. They import large amount of LNG from a dozen countries

@ExplainThisGod @TimRamboReal @charliebilello Even more interesting to incorporate into the equation fiscal deficits

@INArteCarloDoss now that Yellen is going there, the question is if China will give to relieve some pressure. then we might see a broad risk on at least in the short/medium term
English

@Big_Orrin Thank you for your reply!
Saudis/Russian less supply makes sense . But if they were using hsfo for energy should't we also see natgas and coal much higher?
Perchem demand also make sense seeing manufacturing at so low levels but again we have all stock markets only up

@Big_Orrin Big_Orrin seems huge strength on Sing380. Is it still naptha weakness the reason or you see something else might be developing?
