@Normaluser2023 Merch really isn't an option for smaller artists. For example the ones you listed as difficult to find have very little chance of sustaining themselves with figurines. And some manga/anime just don't do well with figurines
It's especially not an option for doujinshi or one-shots

@makro_art People buy figurines and merches of the franchises they like, they're not the same right? Ofc buying the book itself is the best but merchandises are more appealing to the median of the global population.

@onepercentdsgn People may suggest make a steam equivalent for Mangas and such... No one would start that, publishing rights, translation quality, censorship and etc. It's a lost cause.

@onepercentdsgn Crunchyroll went legitimate in 2008-2009. Sony didn't buy it until 2021. Now the subtitles are becoming bad because they're switching to AI instead of paying real people for good and faithful translations. Sony also owns Funimation, so there is no competition for quality.

Because 4.4% was wrong- it’s 9.5%, still dramatically lower than Chinas- which btw only counts urban centers and not rural areas, which would make it dramatically higher.
But id rather own being wrong when I am- people could learn the lesson.
