@jayborschel I think a lot of those 1-1 matches are caused by how safe out of bounds is: I saw so many good exchanges stopped and restarted in neutral where the guys then need to feel each other out all over again

Is edge wrestling even the closest alligator to the boat for the sport? If I think back to this year, my biggest match issues are, in no particular order: 1) reaction time 2) 1-1 overtime matches (not edge) 3) rideout periods/criteria 4) non-independent video review Otherwise, I think the sport is actually a great product if we take a step back. TV coverage is fantastic, I would assume viewership continues to rise. Resurgence of Okie State as a powerhouse and contender. Non-power schools like Stanford and Princeton having success. Love or hate NIL, but guys are getting paid. Edge wrestling is annoying when it’s being exploited but provides a great element when both wrestlers are engaging in action and the intent.

“The refs just need to call stalling more” Okay, well they aren’t going to. We have decades of evidence demonstrating this.

The false confidence of some of the social media wrestling technicians is wild. They are willing to post just about anything. Do they not understand their technique isn’t good, or do they just fire because the audience doesn’t understand either?

@ryderblocklover Vega looks poised to move up a weight. It won’t be as conducive to his style but I think 149 is also a little lighter on talent right now

to wonder how well he’ll be able to replicate it the success. Robideau - Won a controversial semis against also freshman Duke. MM seems unstoppable if he were to go up a weight. Vega - knocked off one of college wrestlings all time greats. Who comes up from 133? Exciting.

Which freshman champ from this year has the best chance to be a four timer? Forrest - Looks damn good but there’s so many young studs between 125-141, hard to think he won’t get some friction in the next three years. Valencia - helluva story but with 7 losses you have… (1/2)

I knew this would stir some controversy. Here's the deal. Just don't act like your above reproach in any situation. That drives me crazy. Everyone has problems and makes mistakes. It's just part of life. If you think your team isn't bending a few rules, you're probably wrong.

The more popular wrestling becomes the more we're going to have to accept that not everyone with an opinion, did it themselves. Having people passionate about wrestling who were not standout wrestlers themselves This is a GOOD thing for our sport

@PusheenRage @LegoKingo It was a sanitized kind of bleak though. Gave the bleak facts but didn’t make the reader face the nitty gritty consequences of them in the least.

I didn’t really think project Hail Mary was hopecore. I think that label is ascribing a level of thematic self-awareness that the movie doesn’t really have.

I actually think there *may* be a solution, or a partial one to defining reaction time. I feel like it should be defined as initiating a move *before* you end up in takedown criteria, ie a granby from standing. Whereas a reaction once *in* takedown criteria would constitute a TD
Coach Stacy@StacyBehr

@PusheenRage This is what happens when you depend on the concept of “control” but fail to actually define it in the rulebook.

It was an amazing tournament no doubt. With that said, no more official matside reviews and coaches get one challenge per tournament. If they are correct they get the brick back until they lose a challenge. The stoppages were out of control.

@StacyBehr Start your sprint earlier in the match and you’ll get multiple stall calls/points awarded. Making it a strategic win. Guys wait until 30 seconds left to do their sprint and think we’re going to feel sorry for them 😂 not in my book.

@MatScouts1 The way NIL is structured now just makes the rich richer. Say goodbye to half the small-school all Americans this year. They’ll be at one of the top ten schools next year

Ohio State was 5th this year with 84.5pts. Two years ago, Cornell was Runners Up with 72.5. This was a historically high year for team points at the top. 6 programs combined for 40 of the 80 All Americans. I'm not sure that's a good thing.

@EricOlanowski I knew watching live this would be a “screenshot takedown” but I really dont think it was bc Trumble never rested on his hip and came through the position within a second to get his leg free. I do think Yonger may have a case on the Peterson-ish position right before the final TD

Wouldn’t have changed anything but this was 100% a takedown for Yonger. Or maybe I’m wrong. Idk anymore.
