People just go out of their way to cherrypick the goofy ones and pretend thats it..

Cell is a biological anomaly that breaks human archetypes. Combining old tropes doesn't make a design original, it just makes it a well dressed remix...

@SebastinPortals @CJDLuffy His human form is based off ghandi. And his hybrid form is not cluttered. You can clearly tell where the samura part and the centaurs parts start and end. Plus the skeleton centaur samurai is a unique blend of tropes. Nothing about this design is hard to register dawg...

@Number9ineeee @CJDLuffy His human form is a boring cliché, but his hybrid form is the definition of visual clutter. Skeletal horse legs, smoke, and a robe don't create a clean silhouette they create a mess.

@Number9ineeee @CJDLuffy You're treating Manga like a novel. In a visual medium, anatomy is really important. Cell’s motivations and dynamics are built into his biology (DNA) If you need 20 chapters of dialogue to explain a character, your visual storytelling failed. Design is the foundation.

Cell is straight up a moster movie villian. Ssj is literally a chosen one trope, etc... These all work bcuz of how toriyama executed them. Same goes for oda

@Number9ineeee @feivlol @Num2MephilesFan @CJDLuffy You're missing the point. I didn't say any mobster, I said a cliché one. The flamboyant, fallen noble turned criminal is a trope as old as literature Lucifer/Dracula. Doffy's story is just 'Nature vs Nurture' Joker/Magneto.

@SebastinPortals @CJDLuffy Clutter how exactly. Hes only wearing a robe... Aside from that. Old swordsman being a trope doesn't mean implementing it into his design is bad. All stories have tropes.. Lastly he has a very clean silhouette. Literally no other character looks like this.

@Number9ineeee @CJDLuffy Nusjuro's design feels a bit cluttered. The Old Swordsman trope is very common in anime, and his skeletal horse form is just overdesigned clutter with no clean silhouette. It lacks the clean, iconic look that makes a villain truly memorable. But this is my opinion....

@SebastinPortals @CJDLuffy No design is design. Character writing is an entirely area of expertise. Motivation, dialog, character dynamics, all of this factor into writing. The design is just a part of a character, not the whole thing. What you are essentially saying is Cell is good in concept

@Number9ineeee @CJDLuffy You're wrong. In elite storytelling, design is writing. Cells body, DNA, and 'Perfect' goal are his narrative. A character's nature and evolution are written into their anatomy. If you need 20 chapters of talking to explain a character, your visual storytelling is weak.

And the story reinforces this idea through char like shanks who has a similar situation to doffy. Theres more to his character than "mobster"
