We regret having to share the news that Ron Morris, the pole vault silver medalist at the 1960 Olympics in Rome and a friend to all, passed away this hour at the age of 89. A true pioneer and legend back in the day when he used a steel pole landed on sawdust. Truly a special man. He also competed for USC and later founded On Track. Please keep Ron’s family in your prayers. He’s reaching record heights now. 🕊️🙏🏼 (pictured with his Olympic silver medal and his proudest gold medal, his grandson Fisher.) May He Rest In Peace.

Please keep in your hearts and prayers the great Ron Morris, the longtime Southland fixture from USC, who won the silver medal at the 1960 Olympic Games. He’s in the hospital and facing tough odds. He is 89. 🙏🏼
