SNAP helps over 42 million people put food on the table—but its future is under threat. The House budget proposes slashing $230B, the largest cut in SNAP’s history. This isn't reform—it's a rollback that would deepen poverty and hunger nationwide.

Lawmakers temporarily expanded the #EITC available to workers without dependent children in 2021, and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities estimates that if the EITC expansions were still in place, about 14 million workers would benefit in tax year 2024.

Excluding younger workers from the EITC is detrimental, because younger workers (ages 18-24) are likelier to face poverty when compared to other age groups and are likelier to start their careers in jobs that pay lower wages and may have less savings built up due to their age.
