@Tiiyee @Mij_Europe The president is elected by Parliament, presumably he therefore derives his mandate from MPs, who would have the power to remove him.

@PerfumedDandy @Mij_Europe I mean, we all have elected presidents and elected parliaments and procedures and legislation in place to terminate their mandate in exceptional cases. Maybe in Hungary a PM has an authority based on law to fire a president, who knows. Just sounds strange to me.

Elected by the National Assembly.
Once the new government is elected, the current president is toast.
New PM is trying to move things at pace, rather than allow the president to stall constitutional reform.

@Mij_Europe Does the PM really have a mandate to depose the president? I thought the latter was elected in separate elections.
