This article is an overview of a very interesting paper by Sultan Mehmood @ProfSultanEcon, Yaroslav Prokhorskoy, and Hosny Zoabi on the harms generated by Stalin's efforts to raise Soviet fertility via an abortion ban. It is a nice example of the growing body of economic history research on Imperial Russia and the Soviet Union that has emerged through the emergence of new data sets.
