@cfdownes_ This is not a sensible can of worms for Restore Britain to be opening if it wants to build a voter base strong enough to challenge in a general election.

Restore Britain will offer the British people a referendum on the death penalty. It is a matter of conscience. But I have made no secret of the fact that I would welcome its reintroduction. There are people in our prisons and walking our streets who are guilty of the worst imaginable crimes, up to and including the trafficking, torture, rape, and murder of children. They don’t deserve to live, and the world would be better off without them. Simple as that.

@KieranCFC88 According to this, you, Wales and most of England are all embracing nationalism. Only London isn’t.

@tc1415 @sargo_dy So we should summon the ambassador and seek assurances. We don’t just wholeheartedly join another country’s reckless war because one of our distant facilities almost got caught in the crossfire. That’s nuts.

@MichaelPTKelly The Archbishopric of Canterbury has existed since Augustine. So the job has existed for 1400 years. It has, rather inevitably, changed quite a lot in that time.

@ProperBritain @WorldByWolf Farage is a rich guy who wants to stay rich. He doesn’t care how he does it. Mass migration keeps wages down and keeps him raking it in. He’s not the answer to anything.

@WorldByWolf He's just trying to get elected you morons. Whilst you purity spiral on Twitter where nobody in the real world is watching, Farage is going to get elected because he hasn't alienated the center by attacking Islam. Do you really think Nigel Farage likes mass migration? Idiotic.

“Who said I’m an anti-migration party? I said the opposite” - Nigel Farage A Faragewave is incoming under Reform. Maybe Reform will ramp up deporting illegals and not renew a few visas here or there but the immigrant population as a whole will grow not fall under Reform.

@WorldByWolf Farage only cares about himself and other rich people like him. He isn’t going to put an end to cheap migrant labour and he has no interest in British workers being able to demand higher wages. He’s just the British Trump. He is the solution to nothing.

@KingBobIIV I don’t disagree but a household like that might also have to tell the grandparents that it couldn’t keep increasing the amount of money it gave them every year. We can’t sort things out until we talk seriously about the ageing population.

No, we need to be thinking like a household - cut your cloth accordingly. If your own children were hungry, they needed new clothes, your roof needed fixing, and you were in debt, the LAST thing you would do is take in thousands of lodgers that dont pay, and use more electricity, and wat your food, and pay for the people over the road to go on holiday. The country is facing financial ruin All benefits and housing for non British must be stopped, all foreign aid, war aid, charity, must be stopped. All North Sea oil, steel, coal mines - whatever, must be reopened providing income and work. Farming must be prioritised to ensure food security, and all migrants must be returned to France.
Aaron Bastani@AaronBastani

The people responsible for Britain losing two decades after 2010 will soon tell you that what we really need is cuts to public spending, and tax cuts for the wealthy too, of course. Just unserious: it’s not about spending more, or less. We need to now be thinking like a developing country: cheap energy, cheap housing, development of human capital, technological autonomy, food and energy security. Anyone whose idea of ‘supply side reform’ being the same as cutting corporation tax is presently as useful as an umbrella in a hurricane.

@andrew_lilico Quite right, just as an Islamist extremist couldn’t become a party leader in Britain. This is a moderate country and we don’t want religious cranks of any type running things.

The case of Kate Forbes makes it clear that, far from Britain being a "Christian country", it is now implausible that any conservative evangelical Christian can become a party leader in Britain. Talk of Britain as a "Christian country" is just naive & empty wishful thinking.
Andrew Lilico@andrew_lilico

I don't believe Christianity & Islam are equivalent in Britain: the law & society are much more sympathetic & positive towards Islam. If even Islamic religious expression is cracked down upon, crack-downs on Christian religious expression are inevitable.

@ProjectFourNine @DanielJHannan I used it simply as an example of the type of things the public might prefer to ditch in favour of spending the money 'closer to home'

This is the root of our problem. Voters have an almost comically unrealistic sense of what the government can afford. With taxes already at a 75-year high, we still need to borrow £150 billion a year, and to spend two thirds of that servicing interest on older borrowing.

@lfg_uk This one is pretty easy. In 1990 Spain had almost no motorways. We already had loads.

Is this acceptable? Since 1990, Spain has built nearly 7,000 miles of motorway. So ... what about the UK? We have built 422 miles of motorway in 35 years. 35 years – 422 miles. Thats only twelve miles every year. Why have we stopped building?

@DanielJHannan Maybe the people asked weren't being comically unrealistic, but meant the government could do all those things IF they stopped wasting billions on issues that the government might consider worthy, foreign aid to countries that dont need or deserve it perhaps, but voters might not

@DanielJHannan I think you’re doing the respondents a bit of a disservice. They are presumably being asked to think about each one individually. Each one could be afforded individually if a government “really wanted to” as per the wording of the question, but at the expense of all the others.
