@DaveShapi customers and consumers require money (buying power) in said system. How are they gonna get it. Either everything's getting cheap, or the rich will own it all and let us use it, or they'll just send the killer drone swarms to clear out the lands for their next supermansions. pyp

LOL, but I'm at the conspiracy theory level that I believe Pearl Harbor was a false flag orchestrated to get the U.S. into WWII. Seriously, Less than 1% of total Navy personnel died. Only two ships were permanently destroyed. ALL of our Aircraft carriers were conveniently not in port and did not have their usual support group with them. Finally, why did we go to war in Europe when it was Asia that attacked us?

Yann LeCun and his team dropped yet another paper! "V-JEPA 2.1: Unlocking Dense Features in Video Self-Supervised Learning" In this V-JEPA upgrade, they showed that if you make a video model predict every patch, not just the masked ones AND at multiple layers, they are able to turn vague scene understanding into dense + temporal stable features that actually understands "what is where". This key insight drove improvements in segmentation, depth, anticipation, and even robot planning.

Yes, the core claim is accurate based on 2026 reports. Iran's subsidized electricity (~$0.005/kWh) drops the cost to mine 1 BTC to around $1,320. BTC is trading near $70k today, so big margins possible in theory. Reality check: Only licensed operations qualify for the rate; unauthorized farms get raided often, and recent conflict has caused grid blackouts knocking rigs offline.

Due to low energy costs in Iran, you can mine 1 Bitcoin for just $1,320 and sell it for $69,000.

@LincolnMargison @nimlot26 for it to be able to output something from that input they need to train it with the proper data, and since DLSS 5 takes the 3D scene with raw data like depth map, motion vectors, textures, meshes etc. they would have needed to train it on that. Maybe they did it synthetically

Lincoln Margison - Game Development
It goes beyond lighting changes though. And by the looks of it, they are NOT training it on high quality AAA models that they have access to. They're likely training it on image datasets the same as any other genAI (which is arguably immoral/the thing most people are against). My position on it is that they should have exclusively trained it on highest settings of the game, using forced LOD versions and low res as the 'before' and the cinematic supersampled max settings version as the 'after'. Then it would entirely be fair use of the assets as created by the devs, but allow it to run like you're on the lowest possible settings.

After this whole debate about DLSS 5 I came to the conclusion that most of the people talking about it are completely unaware of what they don't know...they're on the peak of ignorance and don't even grasp how little they understand. They just heard generative AI and like Pavlov's dog they just start drooling thinking it's the same shit as unethical slop image generators...for the love of Christ...go and educate yourself before raging on the internet for no reason. DLLS 5 is not a prompt based generator...it's not creating stuff based on someone else's images and hallucinates results. It uses the information from the raster to build up a final render frame with the same information but with better lighting and shading... I'll even give you an example on how much of an impact better shading and lighting has. This is a character I've worked on not long ago. On the left you have a raster render, with some bad shaders. On the right you have a render with raytrace on, a much better shader for both hair and skin. They don't even look like the same person...do they? This is what DLSS5 is doing....getting a result like the one on the right(tbh a lot better) at a smaller cost than actually rendering it. Still the same geo, same textures, same light sources. Some of you will go and say the one on the left is better and it's the artist's vision. It's not...it's just the artist's limitation due to shading and lighting constrains. Every single artist out there would love to get the right result in real time.

@Google @GeminiApp Personal spyware I expected more of a persistent memory thing when I heard "personal intelligence". A Gemini that learns and updates fast weights module based on user interaction. As in it remembers the gist of how i like a conversation, catching the vibe without explicit words.

Today, anyone in the U.S. can opt into Personal Intelligence for AI Mode in Search on their personal accounts. It’s also starting to roll out in the @GeminiApp and Gemini in Chrome. Personal Intelligence allows you to securely connect the dots across your Google apps — like Gmail, Google Photos and more — to provide responses that are uniquely relevant to you. Some examples: 🛍️ Get tailored shopping recommendations based on your recent purchases as well as your preferred brands and style ✈️ Plan a family getaway based on your hotel confirmations and past travel memories ✨ Discover a new hobby inspired by your interests (even ones you didn’t realize you had)

Fun fact: The trailer releases for Dune 1 & 2 both happened at the bottom of bear markets. Bitcoin went on to have bull runs that led to new all time highs and lasted for years each time. The trailer for Dune 3 released today. Run it back turbo.
