@Khaledhzakariah Ok, would you give up Kosher then in the interest of equality and animal welfare? Don't throw bricks from a glass house.

Britain has been utterly unbelievable these past few days. I criticised the religious exemption that lets Sikhs carry knives. In response, I was hit with a barrage of racist, anti-Muslim abuse from Sikhs — none of whom apparently bothered to check that I’m actually Jewish. When I called out the antisemitism coming from Restore Britain, I got flooded with antisemitic attacks and accusations that I’m on Israel’s payroll. I’ve never experienced anything like it. Most days I’m simultaneously called a “Muslim terrorist” and “Khaled Khazaria.”

‘We have to make a clear distinction between equality and equity.’ Political commentator Seb Salek believes the Kirpan, a ceremonial knife, shouldn’t be banned, arguing that it’s a religious symbol and that banning it would be an extreme response.

‘No special rules for Sikhs, no matter what your religion is, you should not be allowed to carry a knife in public in this country.’ @Alexarmstrong says he is ‘completely intolerant’ of anyone carrying a knife or weapon in public following the death of Henry Nowak.

The party that gave us Matt Hancock as Health Secretary and Boris Johnson as Prime Minister, and still has the likes of Priti Patel and James “Cleverly” on the front bench wants to claim they’re the party of talent? The Tory Party is a wasteland of braindead career politicians who will soon learn they’re unemployable in the real world. Kemi herself has no achievements of note in her career other than hacking Harriet Harman’s website. 🚮

Raheem Kassam is a vile, narcissistic grifter. His income is based on audience subscriptions, donations, and clicks generated by lies and the outrage and hatred he goes out of his way to create. In other words, he profits from cultivating toxic and angry emotions based on false narratives he creates. Britain doesn’t need the sort of hatred he gets kicks out of. IMO, any politician or political party allowing themselves to be associated with him is as toxic as he is. @reformparty_uk

@BritSikhAsso Ai slop and posts about Indian politics fall flat when you refuse to comment on the UK Kirpan ban argument. If the BJP wants to be respected in the panthic space, perhaps Ranger can actually stick his neck out. The Akali Dal which faced Enoch is spent, its ur turn to replace them

@BritSikhAsso Have you guys spoken against the suggested Kirpan ban? The Sanatani Sikh voice you represent has a chance to demonstrate your commitement to Panthic issues and the benifits of ekta. I hope I'm proven wrong, but the silence is loud. The ground shouldn't be left to sikhfed ect

1.4 billion Indians 🇮🇳 are grateful to the Sikh Gurus and Sahibzadas for their sacrifices in freeing them from the religious oppression of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The Indian government honours their lives on both national and international levels. Sadly, these misguided few are tarnishing their legacy with their selfish agendas.

Two political parties are now backing banning the kirpan. If Sikhs want special treatment, then they must accept and not complain when people treat them differently; after all, that is a consequence of privilege. It means no complaints when people are fearful of them because they are carrying a weapon. That is a justifiable reaction to anyone carrying a knife. Integration means sacrifice. All foreign religions and cultures must (and should desire to) assimilate to British culture and values, not expect Brits to bend to theirs. This is not controversial; it is the norm around the world. The right thing for the Sikh community to do would be to give up their ‘special status’ to carry a weapon. Alternatively, Sikhs can choose to live with the aforementioned consequences. You can’t have your cake and eat it. To be clear, this post is not out of hate for Sikhs, it is out of desire for us to all live equally under the law. That is the bare minimum to ask.
Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick@GNGSmethwick

Fortunately for Britain’s Sikhs, there will never be a Restore government. The Kirpan is a sacred article of faith carried responsibly by Sikhs for centuries. Attacking religious freedoms to chase headlines is not leadership it is ignorance wrapped in division politics.

@marlowmuses @ranjitsingh_ma One rule for all - allow the right to bear arms to everyone. Countless rape cases would have been prevented if the victims had the means to defend themselves, and not rely upon incompetent police’s mercy.

Ban of Kirpan would criminalise otherwise innocent Sikhs. I would allow the religion exemption but increase the punishment for anyone who misused it as a weapon. That way only those who commit crime would be punished.

@FraserNelson "religious liberty"?? you need to distinguish between that which is a religious belief and that which is cultural act associated with a religion. Simply calling something a religion cannot be used as a get-out from the law of the land. We either apply law equally or not at all

I'd be surprised if Reform do this. To go after the Sikhs would be self-defeating - and this 'one law for all' argument cuts against religious liberty. Also, the kirpan was not used in the attack. Lowe has made the running on this, but it's one area Reform should not follow.
Charlie Peters@CDP1882

Robert Jenrick has told @GBNEWS that Reform UK would ban the kirpan, the Sikh ceremonial knife, being carried in public after the murder of Henry Nowak. The differing rules on knives being allowed in public have been described as another example of two-tier justice.

This is an argument for the right to own guns and assault rifles. Which Britain, wisely, doesn’t have. “Guns and knives don’t kill people - people do”. Sure. But the guns and knives are quite important!
Ranjit Singh@ranjitsingh_ma

Banning Kirpans for Sikhs, is like banning having hands for Muslims after the Manchester airport debacle, or banning right wingers from have penises after one raped a woman for being an immigrant. The tool is not the issue. People who are not able to control themselves is. That is not solved by removing the liberties of those who can.

The tragic death of Henry Nowak is heartbreaking. An 18-year-old student lost his life. A family has lost their son. No words can truly ease that pain. As a Sikh, I want to say clearly that we are deeply saddened, shocked, and horrified by what happened, and we stand with Henry's family in demanding justice. Let us be absolutely clear: ❌ This was not Sikhi. ❌ This was not the teaching of the Guru. ❌ This was not an act of faith. This was murder. Sikh organisations have rightly condemned this horrific act because the Kirpan is not a weapon for anger, revenge, ego, or personal disputes. It is one of the Five Ks worn by initiated (Amritdhari) Sikhs and represents duty, discipline, justice, and the responsibility to protect the innocent. Reports suggest that a separate, larger blade was involved while the offender was already wearing a smaller ceremonial Kirpan. If that is correct, it further strengthens the point that this was not the normal religious practice of a Sikh carrying an article of faith. This was the criminal misuse of a blade, and it should be treated as such. It is entirely understandable that many people are asking questions about the Kirpan following this tragic case. In a democratic society, those questions should be welcomed and answered openly. Public safety concerns are legitimate and deserve serious discussion. However, any debate should be guided by facts, evidence, and a full understanding of Sikh religious practice rather than solely by the actions of one individual Sikhs have lived in Britain with loyalty, service, and contribution for generations. During the World Wars, Sikh soldiers fought alongside Britain with extraordinary courage. In 1914, Sikhs were less than 2% of India's population, yet around 22% of the British Indian Army were Sikhs. Across both World Wars, approximately 83,005 Sikhs lost their lives and 109,045 were wounded. This spirit of service is not separate from Sikhi or the commitment to the Five Ks. It comes from the very same principles that the Kirpan represents: courage, protection, sacrifice, and standing against injustice. So yes: - Let us condemn this murder without hesitation. - Let us support Henry Nowak's family. - Let us ensure anyone who misuses a blade faces the full force of the law. But let us also remember that one criminal does not define an entire faith community. The answer is not to confuse faith with criminality. The answer is to enforce the law robustly, hold offenders accountable, and make decisions based on evidence rather than emotion. Justice for Henry Nowak. Accountability for the killer. Respect for the truth. #justiceforhenrynowak #SikhCommunity #kirpan #BritishSikhs #sikhi #ReformUK #sikhhistory @ReformUK @TiceRichard @Nigel_Farage
