@darwintojesus It isn't possible. There's absolutely no way around it, but atheists will bang their heads against the proverbial brick wall in failed attempts to justify objective moral standards without God. Sad, really.

If atheism is true and there is no God, then how is it possible that an objective moral standard could exist? Think of it like this. Imagine you ask me the time and I say it’s 3:20 pm, you then look at your watch and it says 3:30 pm. So which watch is accurate? How could we know? In order to know whose watch is accurate (if either) there would have to exist some kind of *objective reference. In this case the reference we would appeal to is called Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). UTC is maintained by a group of highly precise atomic clocks around the world and provides a uniform time standard for all time zones. So for this watch analogy we do have an objective reference that could tell us whose watch is wrong and whose watch is right. We can solve a dispute about time, but what about moral disputes? What happens when one person thinks it’s right to kill a baby in the womb, and another person thinks it’s wrong to kill a baby in the womb? Is there something we can appeal to in THIS instance? If all humans are subjects and made for no purpose, and our existence is an accident, how would an objective MORAL standard even exist? What on earth could we appeal to as an objective reference that could tell us if we had done right or wrong? To believe in such a thing seems frankly… very silly… if* you believe no God exists. And if there is no standard, then there is no such thing as actual* right or wrong. Right and wrong would be totally arbitrary, just* as the idea of whose watch was correct would be arbitrary if there was no UTC reference (or something like it). So, for all the atheists who want to claim morality is objective… who want to act as if morality is something more than subjective arbitrary opinion…. For YOU atheists: is there an objective moral standard that you can demonstrate exists without God?

Are some religious people indoctrinated? Absolutely! Is that a prerequisite for becoming religious? No. Indoctrination is a very specific term.
