So which specialty should someone refer themselves to if they have - breathlessness/fatigue? - a painful swollen knee? - abdominal bloating/decreased appetite? - eye pain/vision changes? Not straightforward 🤷‍♂️ Not fair to make pts make a best guess then end up in wrong clinic.

@piersmorgan You’re missing the point of the strikes, Piers. Elderly vulnerable people don’t get the urgent emergency treatment they need now. We agree that it is indefensible.

I bow to nobody in my admiration for nurses & ambulance workers, and they need better pay & working conditions, but the thought that elderly vulnerable people may not get the urgent emergency treatment they need in next few days of strikes is indefensible.

Some of the best oxygen extraction happens at the lung bases - sitting patients up in acute respiratory distress, or even improving basal lung collapse by getting patients sat out rather than led in bed…so important! I remember the elderly patients on 1L

@BenAllenGP It’s a tricky one. Suppose it would be helpful to know why people from the UK feel the need to go abroad for surgery in the first place? Are the NHS failing these people? I don’t know the answer.

Patient had gastric sleeve operation in Turkey. She is having telephone follow up with Turkey Drs. They are telling her what blood tests to get. She's contacting us (GP) to do them... What a bizarre arrangement. How/ should the NHS be doing this? Or private bloods? 😵‍💫
