2024 kicks of with holiday sport camps. Wall climbing a big hit.. although hide a seek still a winner. Pictures.. M on climbing wall, L winning at hide and seek, and the floods (out of bounds for hide and seek!)

@KevWeir1 We have been saying this for a while now.. any child with a social worker should be allowed to play a year down. Easy to do. Would be a significant help to children who are most likely to be late starters etc.

Caused some controversy on TikTok with this statement: "Kids shouldn't be allowed to play a year up in grassroots football, if children aren't allowed to play a year down"

Lazy research... anyone know of any pieces exploring the intersection between youth work and sport coaching? The overlap but not Sport for Development - actual youth work as a vocation within a sport setting and the Segway between youth work and coaching.

Great session today. Football with a bit of boxing thrown in plus we made a bit of a plan for future sessions.

Delivering in 28 schools. 300+ children in the year. Holiday programme launched. Football club formed. Activity days. New offer for children not in education. Thanks to the coaches and the young people. Fantastic work. @ActiveHW @Sport_England @WorcsChildren

My initial thought on this.. Including people isn't hard once you genuinely make it your priority. Business as usual with a nod to inclusion won't do it. Stopping what you are doing and going after it with ambition, resources, and ongoing commitment will. bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/…

Last week we formed a football club - so many of the young people we work with find it hard to join a regular local team 🤔. Last Thursday we had one player.. this week we had 3. Team news - H has moved from assistant coach to player/coach 😀

Some easy things would help.. eg if you have a social worker you should be allowed to play in an age group that is right for you as opposed to age.

Many kids are keen to play football. But it's hard to get into a team if, for 1 reason or another, you're late starting. So we're starting a football club! 1st practice last night - 1 player 1 coach! If we are genuine about including people we must offer pathways to catch up.

@justynprice @WorcsChildren @ActiveHW @UniWorcSSES @donaldvinson @stu_arm I think this is an interesting area.. we need really high quality coaching but that exists in play and that gives them the skills they need to getna buzz from the actual game quickly. The problem is that this tends to be interpreted as putting the kit out and letting them play

It has been great getting kids on camps who haven't been able to attend before.. short sessions, variation, teaching + play, but with more laid back options to chill out - this traverse wall was perfect. @WorcsChildren @ActiveHW @UniWorcSSES @donaldvinson @stu_arm @justynprice
