I was lucky to spend this gorgeous fall Sunday talking to voters in St. Peter and at Gustavus about re-electing my #mnleg colleague Jeff Brand, and our @MinnesotaDFL majority to protect our freedoms, strengthen democracy and unrig the economy so it works for working people.

I'm at Wheeler Park in N Mankato w/ @RepLFrederick and @KathrynLozada celebrating our victories this legislative session. This didn't just happen. Organizers and activists across MN have been working for this moment for 10 years! It speaks to the power of grassroots people power.

Much was written about what got accomplished in this truly transformative legislative session, but much less has been said about how it happened. I will give my own perspective from where I sit. A🧵

In the North Star State, we just passed #DemocracyForThePeopleAct in the #mnleg House. The debate reflected the choice we have in front of us. Today, we choose democracy. We choose to be a North Star by strengthening multi-racial, multi-generation, gender-inclusive democracy 🗳️💙

What happened in Tennessee is the latest example of a broader erosion of civility and democratic norms. Silencing those who disagree with us is a sign of weakness, not strength, and it won’t lead to progress.

My bill that would establish true early voting in MN got a little 'spicy' in committee this morning.

Town Hall in Mankato today was packed! Thx to @RepLFrederick and @RepJeffBrand and to all the good citizens who turned out to discuss paid family leave, climate, reproductive rights, taxes, and much more. Respectful at all times. Democracy in action, to say the least. #mnleg
