You can’t make an argument so this is what you’re reduced to.. Also, there is no record that should suggest the first king of Hyrule possessing the Triforce. You made that up. The Sacred Realm is sealed prior to the kingdom’s founding, but how far prior is unknown.

@Rev_ADB I was with you when you said TOTK doesn't contradict any BOTW or other lore. But I see you're arguing AGAINST a refounding of Hyrule. That's really shooting yourself in the foot Nothing is contradicted BECAUSE it's a refounding and the BOTW saga is its own thing at the end of all

@SeffVII @SaintSteezus Those connections in MM are less than the type of connections made to BotW in TotK. TotK opens w/ Zelda talking about the Calamity & her father King Rhoam. You’re actually making my point for me. MM is a sequel, but isn’t a Pt. 2 to OoT. TotK is a sequel to BotW, not BotW Pt. 2

@SaintSteezus @Rev_ADB its that they brought about a sequel without it actually feeling like a sequel. in majora's mask, one of the other of the 3 lines we have direct sequels for, you see an immediate continuation with link riding younger epona and rocking a modified Hylian Shield called the Hero's.

Every time I tell someone to elaborate on how TotK retconned BotW… all I hear is “Well… people forgot Link” And we know that is a gross misrepresentation. But go ahead: explain, in detail, how TotK retconned BotW’s lore.

@JonDArsen factually untrue, what little "lore" botw had was retconned in Totk, which itself has barely anything. most of what they do have is just a loose adaption of the stortelling beats of the previous games

@Rev_ADB @BuudhistPastor Right. The only reason Ganondorf himself revived at all was: 1) the purification broke down for too long (100+ years). So the gloom began to overwhelm Rauru, corroding his body until only his arm remained. 2) Rauru’s arm let go the moment Link and Zelda approached.

Raising the castle doesn’t break the seal. The Purification Unit being damaged by the castle’s 100 year dilapidation is what damaged the seal. Hyrule wasn’t founded twice in this timeline. It was founded once by King Rauru. (Spirit Track’s Hyrule is separate)

@Rev_ADB Hyrule simply was not founded twice. It is also impossible for it to be the original Hyrule, as Ganondorf raises the castle in OoT and would subsequently have released the original Ganondorf. Thus, it is a new timeline.

@MrJmZack @BuudhistPastor Jacob is correct. The plaque wasn’t talking about just Demon King Ganondorf being released. But that if the purifying of the pillar and castle fail, his malice will resurrect. Ganondorf couldn’t resurrect because he wasn’t dead. But his hatred can resurrect itself over and over.

@BuudhistPastor @Rev_ADB That's not what it is saying. Demon King Ganondorf reviving is not the same as his hatred and rage (see: malice). Calamity Ganon is the Demon King's resurrected hatred and malice. Impa, Rhoam, Zelda, and the lore books of both BotW and TotK affirm this.

@BuudhistPastor @Rev_ADB Read that again. Its says his hatred and rage would be revived if the castle was disturbed. His hatred and rage is Calamity Ganon. So the disturbance of the seal (castle) actually results in more Ganon events. Isn't Hyrule rife with Ganon events after OoT?

Hyrule Historia’s Japanese version said some descended from SkSw Zelda founded Hyrule Kingdom. - Sonia is a bloodline descendant of SkSw Zelda. - Sonia is the first queen of Hyrule, and established the kingdom with her husband Rauru. Therefore, no retcon has occurred.

It's crazy how much lore from TotK people skipped out on because of "Secret Stone? Demon King?" It's arguable that no single Zelda game has dropped more lore, explicitly AND implicitly, than TotK. I say this w/ authority, producing a 10 pt video series on the founding in TotK.

theres a lot of interesting meat to the storytelling in the Aonuma Zeldas. you could tell they were interested in saying something, even if it is clumsy and full of holes. Post Botw Zelda however feels like sawdust, i cannot fathom being interested in this.

What specifically were you told about the Zonai in BotW? Be specific. Cite chapter and verse. Then specify how that was retconned in TotK. Be specific.

@Rev_ADB @OKMS8989 The entire Zonai race contradicts everything we’ve been told about them in BotW. They just invented a new high tech race and forgot about the lore they already established because this is Nintendo and story cohesion just doesn’t matter so what’s even the point of being invested.
