I spent 12 hours engaging with my Local Area Plan, only to see this council vote against land use amendments that are consistent with the approved LAP. In one example, not a single person showed up in opposition. You can’t tell me you support LAPs while voting to ignore them.

The MGA states that land use changes require a public hearing. This is the rawest form of democracy that you as Canadians have at your disposal to speak directly to an item at council. Our job is to ensure there is a safe, accessible access to have your voice heard. It is but one tool in the tool bag for us to make our decision, but probably the most important tool. This is where councillors minds can be persuaded by the people. Would you suggest we eliminate this source public input? What would you do differently?
