Love him or hate him. I don’t really care, everyone is entitled to their opinion in a democracy. Instead of asking @tobi to clarify his position/proposal, people decided to ragebait his response that his proposal doesn’t care about poor people lol. Well here you go, I did the research for you. Anyone that has paid any goods/services taxes are eligible. One thing that isn’t debatable are numbers. And the contributions that Shopify has made for the Canadian economy and government tax revenues is not something Canada can afford to lose. Yet alone the amount of builders that are derived from their work. Even if you took a fraction of the 7,600 worldwide jobs this company has created, the amount of employer taxes (CPP/EI), corporate tax (~$75M in income taxes reported in 23-25) and the value of this company. So when people dunk on Tobi/Shopify, please let Canadians know how you plan to pay for the public service gaps to help the poor you care so much about if you chase away builders/companies like this from your rhetoric.
