It costs £240 for a medium sized van to unload at a recycling centre. That's an average transit van size. If you turn up in a LWB Sprinter it's £350. In 2014 a LWB Sprinter fully loaded with house renovation waste cost me less than £80. Fly tipping is low risk, high reward.
Sam Dumitriu@Sam_Dumitriu

Why does the UK have such a bad fly-tipping problem? In the Guardian, George Monbiot blames deregulation and not enough spending on enforcement. To me, the cause is obvious. Britain has the highest landfill tax in Europe. The returns to flytipping are just higher here.

This is actually a really significant point. All the most successful State schools are in reality highly discriminatory - but of course you won’t get Phillipson, Reeves or any union leader to admit it. Too busy indulging their bigoted fantasies about ‘toffs’ at private schools.
Sarah K@SLK_2017

@wdbp @joenutt_author Ind. schools are more accessible (bursaries) than the outstanding state schools in the most exclusive catchment areas.

That brilliant Starmer fuel crisis plan in full: 1. Chair COBRA meeting 2. Blame everyone else for fuel profiteering 3. Call for de-escalation in the Gulf 4. Post more dishonest drivel on X about how Labour are helping working people. 5. Repeat steps 1 - 4.

@christopherhope @alexburghart It is so depressing that our country is led by people with virtually no experience of working in the private sector aka the real world. Little wonder we are in the mess we are in

@BBCNews Maybe don’t force loads of private schools to close then, thereby forcing loads of SEND pupils back into state sector where there are resources for them !!

You’re allowed to wave Hamas flags. Hezbollah flags. Flags of the USSR. IRGC flags. ISIS flags. Gay pride flags. But don’t you dare wave the British flag or a police officer will confiscate it and arrest you for incitement and racism. Welcome to the UK.

Some of us said this from the moment she was appointed. Phillipson has been a walking catastrophe for the entire country. How many individuals can you name who have knowingly caused so much real hurt, to so many children, whilst damaging their futures?
Gareth Davies@GarethDavies007

There’s been a lot of talk about how Labour ministers aren’t qualified and have little experience relevant to the position in cabinet they hold So let’s look at one such example Bridget Phillipson She was born on 19 December 1983 in Gateshead 1/5

@integritas61 @GarethDavies007 This is precisely the issue, of both this and the last govt. Virtually none of them would hold a senior position in the private sector. The country is being run by third class leaders (of both parties) who would never get a big job in the real world

@GarethDavies007 Someone said yesterday not one of the current cabinet would be hired to run a £1 billion company so how the hell are they running the country - but it’s pretty true of all politicians few of whom have real world experience of business …

Is she drunk ? Or stoned? Surely the Secretary of State for Safeguarding and Violence against Women and Girls cannot possibly speak with such total disregard and disrespect when talking about murdered women and girls and be sober? I’m absolutely horrified. How can we expect anything from this woman ? @RestoreBritain_ @pinkladies_uk

I’m sick of reading the news that another independent school has closed because the current Government were absent from all of their maths classes. I’m sick of the Government thinking they have a hand in the upbringing of our children. They don’t. And won’t.

Starmer playing football. The game passes him by. He’s probably one of those shite, talentless footballers who can only contribute by barking orders and taking all the throw ins…because it’s the only way they become visible during a game.

“Let’s spend £4.5 trillion on net zero over the next 25 years. Let’s increase taxes to pay for net zero. Let’s ban new oil and gas licences in the North Sea but spaff away £40billion buying North Sea oil and gas from Norway. Let’s buy coking coal shipments worth £7.2million from Japan but ban UK coal mining. Let’s plaster thousands of acres of farmland with solar panels but spend £50million on sun dimming experiments. Let’s give huge renewable energy construction contracts to China. Lets fail to improve gas storage facilities, Let’s give Drax an estimated £1.8billlion in taxpayer funded subsidies on top of the £11billion it has already received despite Drax burning an amount of wood equivalent to 300 million trees. Let’s give £1billion this year alone to wind power companies not to generate power from their wind turbines. And let’s spend £30billion of taxpayers’ money on carbon capture machines but put pensioners, farmers and the disabled into financial peril by claiming there’s a £22bn black hole.”

A short thread that exposes perfectly just how ignorant and frankly bigoted, Phillipson, Reeves and all who cheered them on were. (Anyone who really knew what the UK schools landscape consisted of, would have foreseen this.)

For the last five years as a single mum, I have put my autistic kid through indy school. And it's been tough financially, but we've made it. We've never been treated differently from the rich kids except in kindness - hand me down uniform etc.

The Labour Government’s appalling attack on independent schools by its ideological VAT tax continues to have a lasting impact on pressure on state schools, communities, jobs, standards and aspiration all for very little benefit. We all suffer. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

I’ve been critical of Michael Vaughan chasing headlines and trying to manufacture clickbait quotes. I think he’s tarnished his 2005 legacy a bit by doing that. I’m one of many fans that he’s blocked. But, having said all that, credit where it’s due. Having listened to him on the TMS podcast and his own pod today, he sounds a lot more competent and capable than Rob Key. He clearly has a vision for England. He is a proven performer. I don’t think he would take any crap. He might even knock a few heads together. Would you like to see him take over from Key?

Why do I have to pay over £5,000 to have my bins emptied Just because my house is bigger? Or in a different area? It’s the same ‘service’ whether your house is worth £200K or £2 million Up to £5,835 a year to get your bins emptied Oh, and if I ALREADY pay a national tax, why am I paying a local tax on top? Council tax is actually a wealth tax

Did You Know ? Tesco CEO Ken Murphy’s pay stands at nearly £10m a year = £27,400 a day and doesn’t pay a penny in tax to the UK He earns 430 x the average Tesco employees who pays tax That doesn’t seem fair to me
