Today’s stormy weather reminds me of ‘April - Shower with a Wandering Sheep’, clearly a portrayal of a very wet and windy day with the addition of a trademark ewe, easy to miss sheltering under the trees, and a title typical of Peter Brook’s tongue-in-cheek use of understatement.

Un-surprisingly gate posts often appear in Peter Brook’s Pennine paintings, but rarely as prominently as in ‘Looking into a Frosty Bronté Landscape - And the Sun Comes Out’, in which they dominate the scene with their size and formality, although typically are not quite straight.
