Quick question: why is it mostly only Manchester United legends that still move like brothers even after retirement? You rarely see that bond at other clubs. Even Bastian Schweinsteiger, a Bayern Munich legend, doesn’t vibe with ex-teammates the way he does with United legends.

It takes a lot to impress Hon. Betty Nambooze, a fierce, outspoken opposition voice who rarely offers praise to government or military figures. Yet, she recently gave a rare and heartfelt tribute to retired Gen. 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐝 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐳𝐢, commending his exceptional humility, calmness, professionalism, and respect for all. This is what truly distinguishes Gen. Muhoozi: his ability to earn genuine respect and admiration across the political divide from the opposition to the @NRMOnline . In a polarized landscape, his character still speaks louder than politics.
AIDEN OFFICAL@Wassajja_Aiden

𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐝 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐳𝐢: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 w𝐡𝐨 b𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐔𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚’𝐬 d𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 In Uganda’s deeply polarized political landscape, few senior figures command genuine respect from both ruling 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (NRM) supporters and 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 voices. Gen. David Muhoozi is one such rare individual; a highly educated military professional whose competence, humility, and non-confrontational style have earned him admiration across the aisle. 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 Born on 27 September 1965 in Mbarara District, western Uganda, David Muhoozi grew up in a large family of 14 children. His father, Mzee Jackson Rubakuba, was a retired police officer, and his mother was Mrs. Edinansi Kyomugyemo Rubakuba. He attended Masaka Secondary School and Mbarara Secondary School for O’Level, and Kigezi College Butobere for A’Level. Muhoozi holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Makerere University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre in Kampala. He has also pursued advanced studies in international affairs and completed high-level military training across several countries, including the Uganda Military Academy in Jinja, courses in Tanzania, Ghana, the United Kingdom’s Royal College of Defence Studies, the United States, Israel, China, and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre. He joined the 𝐔𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞’𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 (UPDF) in 1985 and was commissioned on 21 April 1989. His career includes roles in military intelligence, legal services (as Defence Counsel for the General Court Martial), and various command positions: Base Commander at Entebbe Air Force Base, Chief of Staff of the UPDF Air Force, Commander of the Air Defense Division (Nakasongola), Commander of the Armored Brigade (Masaka), and Brigade Commander of the Motorized Infantry Brigade (Nakasongola). In 2017, President Yoweri Museveni appointed him 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 (CDF), a position he held until 2021. He then served as Minister of State for Internal Affairs from June 2021 until May 2026, when he was recalled in a cabinet reshuffle and returned to active military service. 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡s What sets Gen. David Muhoozi apart is not just his impressive resume, but a combination of personal and professional qualities that resonate far beyond partisan lines. A lawyer-General with international training, Muhoozi is often described as “an intellectual in his own category” cautious, calculative, analytically sharp, and strategically minded. His law school contemporaries and observers note that these traits make him one of the most competent and sophisticated senior officers in the UPDF. President Museveni has reportedly valued him precisely for this blend of loyalty and intellectual sophistication. Despite his high rank and influence, Muhoozi is widely regarded as simple, down-to-earth, and non-arrogant. He avoids ostentatious displays of power, a quality that stands in contrast to perceptions of some other senior officials. This humility makes him relatable to both ordinary citizens and political actors across the spectrum. During his ministerial tenure, opposition figures publicly praised his performance. Forum for Democratic Change MP then Ssemujju Nganda described him as one of the best-performing ministers competent, reasonable, and effective in parliamentary engagments. In an era of sharp divisions, figures like Muhoozi remind Ugandans that bridges can still be built. Thank you Gen, Ugandans will forever celebrate you. As the country awaits his next appointment, everyone is sure that he will be sent up in topnotch positions.

An old friend got married at 24. He was doing impressively well: had a car, a well-paying job, an apartment... His newly wedded wife was 23. In December 2022, he was in a terrible accident. By God’s grace, he survived, but his testicles and manhood were crushed beyond repair, and he suffered a severe head injury that left him with permanent mental illness. At Nakasero Hospital, right after we were told the bad news—that he’d never work again, was the last time we saw his wife. No one blames her. What if she were your sister! He currently lives under his mother’s care. A mother’s role and "importance" is permanent. A wife’s depends on the situation.

My Dearest Melissa, My heart is absolutely overflowing with joy today. You did it, my love! Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Medical Molecular Biology from @UBC is no small feat, and you accomplished it with grace and brilliance. I could not be prouder of you. And the celebration does not end there. You are heading straight into medical school. What an extraordinary accomplishment! From the time you were young, I knew you had something special within you. Watching you grow into the intelligent, compassionate, and driven young woman you are today has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Melissa, you are so much more than my daughter. You are my pride, my inspiration, and one of the greatest blessings I have ever known. Every late night spent studying, every obstacle you overcame, and every sacrifice you made has led to this moment. Take it all in and celebrate how far you have come. The world of medicine is about to welcome a remarkable future doctor, and I feel incredibly fortunate to witness the beginning of that journey. As I write this, my eyes are filled with tears of joy and gratitude. I love you to the moon and back, and then some more. Congratulations, my beautiful daughter. Your future is bright, and I cannot wait to see all the lives you will touch and all the dreams you will achieve. Forever your proudest Dad.

Uganda has 56+ languages and no national language. We govern, trade, and argue in English — a tongue that was never ours. A national language is not a luxury; it is the foundation of a shared identity. And of all our languages, Luganda is the most prepared to fill that role.
