@RyanGirdusky It’s funny how some people function like the last 24 years of geopolitics never happened.

A 30-year-old in 1980 owned a house like this working at the local factory. Married six years with three kids. Weekends meant Little League games. Both sets of grandparents lived within five miles. The kids would attend the same high school he did and grow up with the children of his own friends. This is a dying concept

This marks the first time college graduates have lost their employment advantage since the federal government began tracking these data in the 1990s, per Fortune.

Another casualty of the “End of History” kool aid drinkers. You don’t need to invest in expensive domestic shipbuilding capacity if you believe the world is just one big global market. The damage done by Fukuyama and neocons is immeasurable. .

Shipbuilding in the United States has been in shambles due to decades of shortsighted policies and neglect. Today, the U.S. rolls out about three large cargo ships a year while China does around 1,000. The Trump administration has called this a national security crisis. Sunday.

Morning-After thought: Underrated story line weaved through HPU’s past two seasons is the long term payoff of selflessness and commitment to team/process. Chase Johnston was a starter earlier this year and after a bit of a rocky stretch for the overall team he was asked to take a smaller, more specific role, for the benefit of the group. He committed to it, got better at it, and this morning he is now the hero of the first day of March Madness. Cam’Ron Flethcher, went through some struggles this season. It was obvious he had to earn his way back into the rotation off the bench with defensive play and rebounding. Which he did (we all saw the effort, big fella!). The result: he’s been an absolute monster and his offensive game has started to feed off the defensive/rebounding energy. Go back to Bobby P, Trae (Mr Mean Mug), Laye, Simon and Terry last year. They ended up saving our season in Johnson City and taking HPU to their first NCAAT bid when all of them had various reasons to check out at given times. Then finally take a look at Dan Hauser and Nido Qubein. Surely there were naysayers who said a school like High Point should have gone out and got a big name HC hire or a power 5 assistant coach. But instead they trusted the process and committed to the guy one seat down the bench; who understands the vision. Moral of the story is sometimes trusting your coaches, your teammates and yourself through a tough situation is more rewarding than bailing at the first sign of adversity or trouble. That’s a lesson college basketball seems to need across the board now, more than ever.

A young person entering the business world for the first time is going to use conversational skills, etiquette, and table manners infinitely more than their collegiate art history courses. Skills such as these were a normal part of a liberal arts education for many years.

The thing I learned about High Point University today: They have three high-end restaurants on campus where students learn business conversation skills, interview etiquette, table manners, the bread/drink rule, etc.🧐🏀🍽️

People want to dunk on High Point but when I got out of school the thing I was least prepared for was socializing in a professional setting and I never really got good at it. Doesn’t strike me as a crazy thing to prepare kids for.

@drantbradley One might conjecture that most colleges are charging students exorbitant rates for degrees they know are worthless. Your gate keeping against HPU is misplaced.
