"96 Tears" (1966)
By Question Mark and the Mysterians.
This garage rock classic hit No. 1 in the US and Canada, and Billboard ranked it the No. 5 song of 1966.
That organ riff is unforgettable.x.com/calmalgodown/s…

Formed in Madrid in 1965, this Spanish rock band made history with "Black Is Black".
In 1966 they became the first Spanish rock group to score an international hit.
Can you name them?

@Amer1can_Barbie @SenWarren Just imagine what could be funded if they stopped the fraud in MN, CA, and CO.

In October 2000, George Michael was revealed as the mystery buyer of a remarkable piece of music history.
He paid $2.1 million at auction for an item once owned by John Lennon, saying he wanted it kept in Britain and accessible to the public rather than hidden away in a private collection.
What did George Michael buy for $2.1 million?
A) The instrument used to compose "Imagine"
B) Lennon’s painted Rolls-Royce
C) One of Lennon’s Beatles suits
D) The "Psychedelic Eye" pool mosaic

Heard this for the first time in the wee early hours, and it stuck right away. Love the intro.
The Hollies, "Bus Stop" (1966)
A rainy bus stop meeting turns into a love story.
Hit No. 5.
Who remembers this one?x.com/calmalgodown/s…

Didn't it seem like just about every boy growing up had Hot Wheels?
Had to double check this one. It is real. Tanner Foust jumped 332 feet at the Indianapolis 500 in 2011 in a Hot Wheels sponsored stunt, setting a world record at the time.
This looks exactly like something my son used to build.
I still have his huge duffle bag full of Hot Wheels. He told me to hang on to them so he can pass them down to his kids one day.

"Girl Watcher" (1968)
The brass got my attention on this one.
The O'Kaysions took this to No. 5 in 1968, and it ended up being their biggest hit.
Will you add this to your oldies playlist?x.com/calmalgodown/s…
English

@Hot_Pepper76 Yes
Preferably the mono mix which Paul sings solo, not double tracked.
English

"And I Love Her" (1964)
Paul McCartney called this one one of the first ballads he felt truly proud of writing.
Quiet, simple, and beautiful.
Do you still stop and listen when this comes on?x.com/calmalgodown/s…
English

"For Your Love" 1965
This is the song that pushed Eric Clapton to quit this band, because he wanted to stick to blues, not pop.
Jeff Beck replaced him.
Do you remember the band's name?x.com/calmalgodown/s…

@Hot_Pepper76 Matt Helm series. I’ve watched them. Campy fun. You gotta be in a certain mood to watch, so just turn off your brain!
English

@BuzzPatterson Phony lyin’ ed making stuff up again. Block.
English

@Hot_Pepper76 No, not then. Seemed like riding a carousel.
I think I get it now
English

"Spinning Wheel" (1969)
The singer-songwriter said it was really about life coming full circle, good times, hard times, and the truth that nothing stays the same forever.
Did you know what this song meant when you listened to it?

When Howard Cosell asked Curt Flood during a TV interview, how could he compare his rift with professional baseball to slavery, when he was making $90,000 a year?
Curt Flood told Cosell:
“A well-paid slave is nonetheless a slave”. Jackie Robinson and Hank Greenberg were the only two connected with baseball who testified on Curt Flood's behalf, at trial.
"His historic challenge to reserve clause transcended baseball.
He courageously sacrificed his career to take stand for the rights of all players.
If the HOF recognizes individuals with biggest impact on our game, it is undeniable that Curt Flood should be in the HOF".
Tony Clark.
Curt Flood would take pitch after pitch to allow Lou Brock the opportunity to steal bases and was terrific at hitting behind the runner and bunting.
Curt Flood was in fact tied for fifth with the most sacrifice hits during the 1960's.
From September 3, 1965 to June 2, 1967, Flood played 226 games in the outfield, handled 568 chances - a league record - without committing an error.
Two weeks after his streak was broken, Flood completed the first unassisted double play by an National League outfielder since 1945.
Curt Flood is in my HOF!!

It was 5:15pm, Easter weekend.
My teen is babysitting triplets who are nine years old.
They are outside in our backyard, playing and singing, and a neighbor came over to complain that they were too loud.
Not midnight, not blasting music, just kids being kids outside.
I love the sound of kids playing and singing.
English

"Tuesday Afternoon" 1967
The Moody Blues reportedly wrote this one on a Tuesday afternoon.
I made this clip longer, will you listen to the end?
Is this on your playlist? It's on mine now. x.com/calmalgodown/s…

"Mighty Quinn" (1968)
Written by Bob Dylan during his Basement Tapes era, this sat unreleased for years.
Manfred Mann took it to No. 1 in the UK and Top 10 in the U.S.
Which version gets your pick, this one or Dylan's?x.com/calmalgodown/s…

@Hot_Pepper76 So many bands, and of course all the well known ones…but particularly a song by Amboy Dukes (Ted Nugent’s early band) called Journey to the Center of Your Mind! Come along if you dare…
