@plasmatron Yup, market consolidation presents a clear conflict of interests with certain corps owning venues, Merch Co’s, management co’s, festivals, ticket co’s, secondary ticket co’s, labels….etc. Is there really a free market for music or a cartel of corps in cahoot? @CMAgovUK

This practice has to cease. At every level of the Music Industry musicians revenue is degraded. The fairy-tale that *all the money’s in gigs ’n T-shirts* is yet another deceit — a mirage to cover-up systematic exploitation of the talent that drives the music economy.

Some thoughts about venues charging a commission on sales of band merchandise… sometimes up to 25%. Well done @Tim_Burgess for starting this conversation. I have been battling this for many years now and fully support a change to this practise.

A profound error in MusicBiz is to consider all solutions only in context of subscription & ad-fund – which will NEVER work for 99.9% of songwriters &/or recording artists! Subs would need be £50 & no consumer will ever pay that upfront! There is another way @abba #FixStreaming

Bugger All! The problem is that though @PRSforMusic collect royalties from streams @PPLUK don't - which means the bass player @BruceFoxton and anyone else in the band gets zero. Basically the law needs be changed #FixStreaming #BrokenRecord @cj_dinenage @tom_watson
