The Sun herself☀️🐦‍⬛Reiuji Utsuho is now rigged and poseable. There are weight painting issues that you can see here in this pose I threw together for her. As there is clipping in her clothing and such... I got into Blender and 3D cuz of Touhou so it's about time I made my fav.

Blender Utsuho model's Third Leg arm cannon WIP shapekeys☢️they will need some more work but I think the concept is cool. I always imagined her arm cannon was not permanently part of her and was a sort of "spell" she could cast. Since she's shown without it in official Touhou.

@_Wripp I feel like larger scale space ships are hard to design because unlike a character or a plane the scale can prevent us from designing around one specific set of features like eyes or intakes or whatever that the viewer is drawn to. So its like trying to fill up an empty space.

the Utsuho Reiuji model's cosmic cape material procedural through nodes, reacts to camera like a "window" like it did in the official touhou fighting games, also bloomers.

Here a tip on how to get a nice and sharp lip border 🤓 Usually, the texel density around the lips is low, so the painted border looks pixelated. To fix that you can add a UV seam on the inside of the lips, following the shape of the mouth border. That way, the lip border has its own UV island, which you can scale up to increase texel density. Also, the edge of the border will be sharp, since it's limited by the UV!

@Kaccelisk The bone driver has two shapekeys bound to it, up down and left right. They are set up so that when the bone moves up down left or right, the eyes do too, mimicking a rig but with more versatility of transformation. I hope that helps explain it some.

@Kaccelisk Hi, the way the shapekeys work is they modify the position of the vertices making up the eyes themselves which are parented to the head bone of the rig and therefore move with it while transforming. the shapekeys are driven by a single bone armature that I've set up as a driver.

every time i've made character models since starting i've used constrained rigs to move the eyes but now i have set up shapekeys for it for the first time instead, way more versatile and def what i'm doing for Okuu and every other model from now on
