Today is officially my last day in the Army. Tmr I’m a retired civilian. Ultimately, I’m grateful. I have a beautiful family, a roof over my head and love my job. I’m glad to be done, but will never forget those I served with and those who never made it back.

Dear readers, sources, leaders and friends who have reached out in droves today asking me to quit the @washingtonpost :
1/ I too worry about the timing and odd explanation for The Post's change in endorsement policy.
2/ My fear is that this signals a tip-toeing deference to a candidate. And that spells trouble what I care deeply about: revelatory reporting without fear or favor, no matter who is upset by the truth we reveal.
