🇦🇫 The Taliban officially legalize child marriages Under the new “family law,” a girl’s silence is now considered full consent to marriage. The regime has ruled that if a “mature virgin” does not speak out, she has agreed to wed. Such marriages can only be annulled after the girl reaches adulthood, and only through a Taliban court. Human rights groups warn that this will lead to widespread coercion and intimidation of young girls, who will be pressured into remaining silent. We're waiting for the inevitable BBC report about Taliban commanders having to sacrifice themselves by marrying young girls due to poverty in their families.
