He was talking about being the best in terms of bars. And features. And music in general. Not calling for actual diss tracks. Y'all confuse battle rap & diss tracks as being the same thing. Battle rap is when 2 nggas who have no malice towards each other "diss" each other to prove who is the better battle rapper. Beats are shared, an understanding is in place before hand, and it's an actual lyrical competition. if a ngga apologizes after spitting a verse in a battle rap...then yeah, that's a hoe move. That's NOT what Cole ever called for tho. This wasn't a rap battle. It was an exchange of DISS TRACKS. Diss tracks are meant to disrespect. Not on no competitive shit, but actually disrespect a ngga. Ether wasn't competitive. Takeover wasn't competitive. Hit Em Up wasn't competitive. Rap Devil wasn't competitive. Killshot wasn't competitive. No Vaseline wasn't competitive. Control WAS competitive. There was no malice or disrespect intended in that verse. Like That was competitive towards Cole and a diss towards Drake. Cole took it as a diss incorrectly & responded incorrectly in kind. Cole never wanted actual smoke with anyone tho. That excuse is erroneous. I think that Kendrick believes that last verse was Drake sneak dissing him. And not on no competitive shit. If you listen to Like That it's the only thing that actually makes sense. "What threat was he too paranoid for?" Whether Drake actually was or wasn't sneak dissing we'll never know. But Kendrick clearly felt he was & responded as such. The difference is Cole DIDN'T actually feel a way. He said it himself. He just let outside voices GAS him into feeling a way he didn't. So he put out some bullshit he didn't mean. Kendrick meant every word he said and was resolute in his belief. If you truly believe a ngga you don't fw is sneak dissing then you're not being lame if you go back at him directly. If you DON'T believe a ngga you DO fw is dissing you but go at him bc you let instigators gas you into moving outside of your belief....then you're lame.
