@MichaelFKane True. Just as we got enough compute to make really nice 2D games at high resolution with as many colors and layers as we want, all the big developers stopped. Kind of a shame.
We did get Rayman Legends though. That was pretty good.
English

@StarfighterInt1 It's true, for sure.
Though I wish Nintendo (and others) wouldn't have abandoned high quality 2D entirely. Even now when when Nintendo does 2D it's always just 3D constrained to 1 plane.
English

Modded screenshots aside, Mario 64 is actually the worst 3D Mario by a large margin.
And it is still a very fun game, no mistake, but if you put aside your nostalgia goggles, the bad camera and Mario's lack of traction knock it way down the list, and that's before even discussing how the graphics have aged.
3D was functionally a new medium and Nintendo needed a couple console generations to re-perfect their art.

Early 3D aged worse in 5 years than 2D has in decades.

@cryptocurious61 @benjamincowen Why is it always a boomer with a potato cam ranting about how he doesn't understand astronomy.
English

@NoQuarterSoft You can actually get some conversion from people who might have been on the fence about getting your game before.
English

@Kanga7577 @ChrisMartzWX Same problem. Planes are just faster.
English

@BigBlueNation85 @benjamincowen Oh it's a specialty service. Costs a ton of money, and it really isn't useful unless you're in the deep wilderness or out at sea.
English

@StarfighterInt1 @benjamincowen Idk any carriers here that do but would be nice as when my WiFi goes out I lose everything

Victor Glover, pictured left is the farthest thing possible from a diversity hire.
In fact, he's basically an IRL Tom Clancy protagonist.

DEI didn’t just prove MAGA wrong—it did it on a mission around the moon.
English

@samofolabi Grew up with it. My dad worked in aerospace. My grandpa was a mathematician.
English

@cryptocurious61 @benjamincowen I once flew from Los Angeles to Honolulu.
At the midpoint of the journey, my plane was 1200 miles from any land, give or take.
English

@benjamincowen Cell towers. Study flight patterns. No passenger planes are ever far away from land.
English

@Cat_Brah @benjamincowen The Internet is a mesh connected lots of ways. Fiber optic backbone, copper coax, wireless towers, and satellites.
English

@benjamincowen The internet is connected via deep sea cables you clown.
English

@BigBlueNation85 @benjamincowen Because that makes for faster routing.
You can have a sat phone if you prefer and can afford it.
English

@benjamincowen What’s the cell phone towers for then lol. 😂 phone signal from satellites orbiting earth. Really Ben??
English

@iFocusBlork @benjamincowen Yes, flight plans do indeed account for the curvature of the earth.
Failing to do so will have you hundreds of nautical miles off course.
English

Speaking of jets flying over the Atlantic Ocean. Why don’t you ask the pilots if they account for curvature? Or is their equipment designed to fly over a flat plane. And actually while you’re there, check the flight path. You’ll realize you’re actually not going over the Atlantic and actually going up and over. Curious….
English

@Christojt @ManaByte They were even on Usenet long enough ago.
English

@ManaByte Dude we’ve known they truly exist from the IRC days. 😂
English

@San3inSanity369 @CyberPunkCortes You can deflect radiation.
It's not even that hard. It's just an engineering problem.
English

@CyberPunkCortes Oh? No. I just don't believe it. For a few reasons but the main is because of radiation belts. Nobody can survive that.
English

I low-key wonder which African country would be the first to send humans to the moon and back
NASA@NASA
Your close personal friends, the @NASAArtemis astronauts (and Rise), can't wait to get home! In the meantime, enjoy a few new pictures from their camera roll. And watch their return with us live at nasa.gov/live.
English

@_khusheyyy Honestly yes. Though if you really wanna work in space, aerospace engineering is the way.

The American space program is back, and you’re blackpilling?

How it started vs how it’s going
English

@ReviewsPossum First person pixel maximalism would be a huge vibe for sure.
Also hard to pull off well.
English

People always reply "this looks like [insert game here]" and it's a game that looks nothing like this beyond being first-person and pixelated.

أحب المقاطع اللي كذا، وتخليني أتساءل ليه ما فيه ألعاب بنفس التوجه

@CyberPunkCortes @21_North_ Common sense will tell u this is bullshit. Would u, as an astronaut, go to the moon, knowing before u, no space craft had landed and returned to earth successfully?
