A new 2026 @OSCE survey report confirms a hard truth: #modernslavery is not standing still and neither can our #response. #Exploitation is shifting deeper into labour markets, moving further online and becoming more sophisticated. While there has been #progress, the systems designed to #prevent harm, #identify victims and #pursue offenders are struggling to keep pace. The next step is #action. We need stronger, practical measures on forced labour and online exploitation, alongside a sharper focus on disrupting traffickers’ profits. #ModernSlavery #HumanTrafficking #ForcedLabour #LabourRights #OnlineExploitation #SupplyChains #TechAccountability #EndExploitation storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/077b00…

New #guidance from @activetraveleng will #help English councils design streets that are safer for #women and #girls. @YouGov polling for @activetraveleng found 88% of women feel unsafe walking alone after dark and nearly three quarters change their routes in winter to avoid dark places. #Safety is a #fairness issue and a #public health issue. #Responsibility must sit with spaces and systems, not with women. #VAWG #SaferStreets #ActiveTravel #Fairness #Prevention #PublicHealth theguardian.com/politics/2026/…

On this day, we pause to remember one of history’s greatest tragedies. By honouring the victims of the transatlantic slave trade, we ensure their stories are never forgotten and their dignity is restored in our collective memory. Understanding the past is the only way to dismantle the racism and prejudice that still exist today. Let’s use this day for reflection, education and a shared commitment to a future rooted in justice and equality for all. #RemembranceDay #SlaveTradeAbolition #HumanRights #EndRacism #HistoryMatters #NeverForget #SocialJustice #GlobalHistory #UnitedInMemory

Stalking is a serious crime that devastates lives. Tackling violence against women and girls is my top priority as Solicitor General and I will continue to work with the @CPSUK on implementing their Stalking Action Plan to deliver better support and outcomes for victims.

We know stalking is changing - increasingly offending is now taking place online. Therefore @CPSUK's new plan is a vital, timely step forward. But major gaps in protection remain. Changes to the law are still needed to keep victims safe. Read more: 🔗cps.gov.uk/cps/news/prose…

Today is a day of remembrance and resolve. On this day, we uphold the fundamental right to truth and justice for every victim of human rights abuses. We honour the activists and martyrs who sacrificed everything to protect the dignity of others. Silence is the ally of injustice; truth is the path to peace. #StepwellAlliance #HumanRights

Welcome news. Domestic abusers use the family court system to continue to control ex-partners and children. Change is long overdue. theguardian.com/society/2026/m…

Today, I have announced £5 million of funding for the @CPSUK to support victims of domestic abuse in the Crown Court. Victims will be offered a pre trial meeting with the prosecution. This will provide them with better support and ensure their voice is heard.

I welcome investment in tagging and Probation. For many victims, knowing an offender is monitored provides vital reassurance - but only if the tag is fitted, monitored and breaches are acted upon. Otherwise, we risk creating a false sense of security. 🔗theguardian.com/society/2026/m…

A new #report by the Home Affairs Select Committee warns that extending employer-sponsored migrants’ wait for #settlement to 15 years could increase vulnerability to #exploitation. When #workers are tied to a single employer, they may feel unable to challenge low pay or poor conditions for fear of losing their status. #Immigration policy must #reduce dependency and risk, not create conditions where exploitation can thrive, a concern repeatedly raised by the @UKAntiSlavery Commissioner. #ModernSlavery #LabourRights #MigrationPolicy #EthicalBusiness #HumanTrafficking committees.parliament.uk/publications/5…

It’s time to break the silence. Today is National Child Exploitation Awareness Day and we’re calling on everyone to be the eyes and ears of their community. Exploitation can be hidden in plain sight, but by knowing the signs, we can protect the next generation. #StepwellAlliance #HelpingHands #CEADay26

Too many abused women end up in prison when they shouldn’t. The Women’s Justice Board recommendations are welcome & show how we can support women away from the justice system. Now over to govt to build on the funding today by implementing them in full. theguardian.com/society/2026/m…
