@Stjohnsfieldsra

We have united to oppose the building of 2000 houses on local farmland fields, which would put a huge strain on the environment (inc an SSSI), roads & services.

If you're near Colchester on 18th April, come and listen to @TrooperSnooks talking about "Words from The Hedge" and more at 2pm, Aldham Village Hall. It's one of the national day of action for nature, parks and green spaces events. @CommunityPlann1 @northessexnotes @nfsway60 Here's an excerpt that will ring true to many campaigners!: "On the far side of the wood from us, two human shapes appeared. Noisy humans, rustling and crackling the brash as they walked with a sloping tread… These interlopers were loud in every way. The hi-viz outfits they wore, so jarring and out of place, fitting for road menders perhaps, but not for woodland walkers. They marched, talking to one another, neither appearing to look at the wonders about them. We could see one carried a tablet computer, both had binoculars slung low around their necks, each step causing them to swing like dual pendulums… …’What are you up to? Out for a walk?’ I quizzed the couple, who seemed intent on marching by without stopping, ‘Bird habitat survey’, the lady replied. eventbrite.com/e/book-talk-by…

In the south east and east of England there has been poor sapling and whip survival rates because of increasingly hot and dry summers ..yet developers continue to fell #mature trees and woodlands.. the UK continues to see legally binding targets of tree cover getting further away. inews.co.uk/news/governmen…?

The @NaturalEngland Species Recovery Programme has for decades supported successful efforts for hundreds of species, avoiding or reversing national extinction for dozens. We look forward to making the most of the opportunities that arise from this significant new investment.

📣 We’re protecting some of our most threatened native wildlife from extinction. £60m will be invested over the next three years into conservation projects including habitat restoration, research and species reintroduction. Read more: gov.uk/government/new…

This Government is delivering the largest ever investment in species recovery, bringing threatened wildlife back from the brink. It is a decisive step towards reversing the decline of nature and protecting it for generations to come. independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

UK’s smallest bird of prey, the merlin, among 200 species at risk of extinction, study finds - unless climate change is halted, and land use practices are not so damaging. The way we destroy and damage habitats is vitally important theguardian.com/environment/20…

@RosieP4 This was one of those occasions when the insurance companies were insisting this tree was the cause of subsidence to nearby houses. It was heartbreaking for the home owner concerned who is one of us. 😢

Look out for our adverts on trains going into London over the next few weeks. The website linked to the QR code goes live before Monday, which is official launch of the ads, but we hear some posters are already on trains! If you spot one, take a photo and let us know! This is all linked to our day of action. #VoteForNature #DayOfAction @CommunityPlann1

A nice picture of rural Suffolk, England. Preserve these places. Object to solar panels and ugly housing estates. And remember when it's gone, it's gone. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

A or B? Stop building "high-sided boxes" and start building communities. Once the concrete is set, the chance for green infrastructure is gone forever. Landscapes are the mental health necessity we keep ignoring. Design for people and biophilia, or don't design at all. 🌿✨

The UK is one of the most nature depleted nations on Earth – and it’s about to get worse. A new report predicts that hundreds of species are set to go extinct in Britain in the next 50 years - but which of these groups will be impacted the most?

@RosieP4 @Steveredwolf The only problem with this is when the farmer is the one who puts forward his land in a call for sites. This is what has happened to us. It’s a shame because he’s used a lot more sustainable methods over the past few years.
