Say no to BABA Say no to ASTROLOGER This is Ashok Kharat. A retired Merchant Navy officer has been arrested for allegedly repeatedly raping a 35-year-old woman under the guise of spirituality. He was in the navy and spoke good English. He used to call women to his office with promises of solving their personal problems, and then allegedly hypnotise them. Not just one but the police recovered a pen drive that reportedly contains 58 video clips of different women. People treat these so-called baba like gods, without asking questions. And the same babas use faith to exploit them. Disgusting.

Their only mistake was being born in a place where even clean water is not guaranteed. Just a few months ago, two innocent children lost their lives after drinking contaminated water in Danwa Kheda village of Ghodadongri block, Betul district, Madhya Pradesh. Today, the same village is again reporting outbreaks of severe itching and skin diseases. The warnings were there. The complaints were made. Yet, silence from the administration continues. Is Indian life so cheap? Do rural lives matter only during elections? Clean drinking water is not a favour from the system — it is a fundamental right of every citizen.
