He insulted the honour of “NATO allies,” not just the UK.
Canadians didn’t “hang a little back from the front lines.” They took one of the toughest missions: in Kandahar.
Virtually every NATO country suffered combat deaths, and many were in the thick of the action.
Denmark suffered the second highest level of combat deaths, per capita.
We all know that you cling to his endorsement like a drowning man to a raft, but please stop pretending that your craven attachment to him is based on principle or honour. It’s unseemly. Your late friend John McCain must be rolling over in his grave.

Well said, Mr. President. Your statement about our British allies speaks for itself. I have had more interaction with President Trump on national security matters than any president since I’ve been in Congress. I can assure our allies and the American people that President Trump deeply respects those serving at home and abroad. When it comes to President Trump’s respect and admiration for those who wear the uniform at home and abroad to protect freedom, he is equal to any. In political jousting he always pushes back, and sometimes like all of us, he can go too far. However, I have never found a president more focused on making sure our nation protects those who serve, ensuring they have the best equipment and the latitude to keep America safe.
