@buzzilinear @jonmorosi @NCAA The hockey people I know go year round, so age development shouldn’t be an issue. Agree like other sports most countries don’t offer high school activities, USA way ahead of curve there & also with club opportunities to boot. Interesting view pt thx!

@TedZrust @jonmorosi @NCAA More international (maybe still majority). No other country has high school hockey and it is small compared to age-based development.
English

I’m encouraged that every relevant hockey entity in North America is in agreement. The clock should start at 19 years old, not upon high school graduation. This is a straightforward issue that requires immediate attention. Do the right thing, @NCAA.

@AlexMicheletti @urbanchamp What’s different from the physicality of hockey to other sports? Others college sports do it & come straight from high school. Is it the jr hockey pyramid fighting this?
English

@urbanchamp The NCAA wants hockey 5 years of eligibility in 5 years right after graduating high school, they don’t understand junior hockey, most players not ready to physically play right away in college from high school
English

Every D1 men’s college hockey coach against the new rules, five-in-five eligibility proposed by the NCAA, all 63 of them, good work NCAA 🤦🏻♂️
Matt Wellens@mattwellens
Breaking away from the NCAA is not a realistic response by college hockey to the NCAA's unpopular five-in-five eligibilty proposal. There are less childish ways to make this work, if the NCAA will listen. My column, with comments from Scott Sandelin: duluthnewstribune.com/sports/bulldog…

The flag that Rick Monday rescued 50 years ago today is headed to Cooperstown!
OTD in 1976, Monday, a Cubs outfielder and veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, grabbed an American flag from two protesters who had run onto the field at Dodger Stadium and attempted to burn it.
Monday, the longtime Dodgers broadcaster who played 19 years in the Major Leagues, was a two-time All-Star and a World Series champion, has often been asked about the moment.
“If that’s all you’re ever remembered for, that’s not a bad thing at all,” Monday told MLB Network in 2016.
Monday still owns the flag and it will be on loan to the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer as part of America’s 250th birthday celebration. In addition, Monday will be honored on July 25 during induction weekend.

🚨 50 YEARS AGO TODAY: Dodgers legend Rick Monday became an American hero.
Two protesters ran onto the field at Dodger Stadium trying to burn the American flag… and Rick Monday sprinted in like a damn boss and SNATCHED it right out of their hands.
No hesitation. No apologies. Pure patriotism
@TheVinScully with the call!
