I just heard that Governor Alex Otti has taken a bold and compassionate step by ordering all hospitals in the state to treat patients first and ask for payment only after saving their lives. This policy puts human dignity above profit and tackles a painful reality. You will agree with me that many Nigerians have died because emergency rooms turned them away for lacking cash or health insurance. Data from the National Emergency Medical Services Committee shows that up to 30% of avoidable deaths in Nigerian hospitals happen within the first 24 hours due to delayed treatment over payment disputes. Compared to states like Lagos or Rivers, where no such binding directive exists, Abia now leads in prioritizing emergency care. This move also aligns with global best practices. Countries like Rwanda and Ghana have reduced maternal and trauma deaths by up to 40% after adopting similar “treat first, pay later” rules in public hospitals. I endorse this gesture. It is rare for any governor to directly challenge the entrenched culture of “no money, no care” that has cost countless lives. Gov. Otti’s directive is a moral reset for Abia’s healthcare system. However, the government must back it up with swift reimbursement mechanisms for hospitals and strict penalties for violations. Comparative analysis shows why this is essential. A study from Enugu State found that after a similar “treat first” order, unpaid emergency bills rose by over 60% within six months, & small private hospitals nearly closed because they were left to absorb costs alone. Without a state fund to reimburse hospitals for treating poor patients who cannot pay later, this good policy could face the same fate. If Gov. Otti pairs his order with such a backup fund, perhaps from savings on ghost workers or a small part of the health budget, Abia can become a true model for Nigeria. For now, I think Governor Alex C. Otti deserves high praise for choosing life over ledger books. This is leadership that puts the poorest citizen on the same footing as the richest when their heart stops or their lungs fail. Kudos to him. © 2026 Emenike Vincent Onyembi (EVO) is a policy development analyst based in Abuja. 📩 vincentonyembi@gmail.com

The biggest evidence of demented egoism or outright stupidity is to say: “I was supporting Peter Obi until Obidients abused me. Now I am against Peter Obi”. Even if you graduated from Harvard, plus Oxford plus IMT or Caltech and you wrote this, you are either silly or fully of yourself, which is worse. Nonsense. What foolish egoism. People abuse you, then you descend to the abyss of immorality and incompetence to support a poor candidate because you must get even. Any you are still thinking you are smart? Shame on you

OAU’s rejection of Peter Obi is not political in any way. OAU would not allow a third-class degree holder to lecture first- and second-class students. It doesn’t make sense.

This boy is scared of the Obi-Kwankwaso permutation, hence, has been using REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY since ADC became big. The question is: WHY ARE YOU SCARED OF OBI AS THE FLAG BEARER?
JJ. Omojuwa@Omojuwa

The ADC is going North. Atiku Abubakar is shoo-in. If that changes, it’d be Jagora. That is, Kwankwaso. The only way Kwankwaso pairs with Obi in the ADC is as KO and not OK. There will be no OK in the ADC. If you are a betting person, you can take this to the bank.

INCITING VIOLENCE - GOVERNOR MAKINDE, YOU ARE UNWORTHY OF THE OFFICE YOU OCCUPY While addressing a summit of opposition political parties in Ibadan, yesterday, Saturday, April 25, 2026, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state invoked the bloody history of “Operation Wetie” to incite Nigerians to violence over his baseless and senseless allegation of the country’s descent into a one party state. The All Progressives Congress (APC) categorically condemns Governor Makinde’s @seyimakinde incitement as reckless, and a clear and present threat to peace and national security. It is particularly disturbing for a sitting Governor who bears constitutional responsibility as the Chief Security Officer of his state to conjure up one of the darkest episodes of political violence in Nigeria’s history to threaten violence against the people and government of Nigeria. By his incitement to violence, Makinde has showed himself to be unworthy of the high office of Governor that he occupies.

From now on, Every insult against Atiku by Obidients will be reciprocated with the same energy against Peter Obi. We will not accept PO as Atiku’s running mate. Go and run with Kwankwaso in any other party. The ADC ticket will not be handed on a platter; power is taken, not given. The ADC VP slot will not be offered on a platter; it will be fiercely competitive. The Coalition is bigger than any one man’s ambition.
