Call it whatever you want; Pretense, script or eye service. I love what Aremu Afolayan did after he was called out. He did something, Cubana Cheap Priest and Obi Cucumber couldn’t do. He knelt apologized, and publicly withdrew his support of Tinubu and pitched tents with the people. The reason of calling these guys out isn’t to mock them when they realize their mistakes… Again he could have doubled down, especially in this season when billions are flying and everyone’s integrity is heavily tested. If you can’t forgive him, Ignore him let’s move on. Play the politics.

“To all Nigerians, please forgive me. I’m very sorry. The cvr$3s you guys are raining on me is too much. I didn’t take money from anyone. It’s obvious that there’s insecurity and the government isn’t doing anything; what I was trying to say is don’t answer anyone who is saying there’s no insecurity. My best friend’s mother was k1dn&pp3d and we paid ransom; how would I say there’s no insecurity? I’m withdrawing myself from anything that has to do with politics.” — Aremu Afolayan kneels and apologizes to Nigerians.

“When people say the country is hard, I don’t really care because I’m doing very well. When the UAE banned Nigerians from entering their country, it was President Tinubu who went there, met with their president, and helped lift the ban. Nigeria has many problems, but most Nigerians seem more focused on criticizing him and his efforts. The good work President Tinubu is doing is why I support him. He is trying to unite Nigerians. And when you watch the news about insurgency, don’t mind them—it’s all scripted.” — Aremu Afolayan. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

At least he had the courage to come out publicly and admit things aren't okay. Many who endorsed and later regretted it stayed silent. It's sad it took this level of backlash for him to speak up, but better late than never. This pattern of support → regret → public apology shouldn't keep happening
