Reminder that Returnal featured a story about generational trauma from mother, daughter and grandson, and a strong implication that the lead is in a relationship with another woman in a cutscene mid game🚀 No one said anything at the time or even called it “woke” because it was quite likely too challenging for tourists to play and reach that far. Meanwhile, SAROS is getting backlash for telling a story that was probably told in many movies where either a man or a woman are in the same shoes as Saros’ protagonist, yet somehow they decided this is “weird” and “woke” and “shoved down our throats” as if video games have to be a lesson to learn from. And the funniest part is that so much of the drama is over AI generated images that aren’t even in the game.
