BTC doesn't fit with "digital currencies developed with the participation of Iranian companies". Using bitcoin would make more sense but governments do a lot of stupid shit, many people are incentivize to sell their own "better solution" and they end up awkwardly reinventing the wheel. So this is plausible that they want to developp a clunky but new system using some sort of stablecoin.

Or, someone wants to use bitcoin. If someone told me about this without mentioning Iran, I'd say it sounded like a call center scam. I'm curious to see if there's any footage of these tankers interacting with IRGC ships, in some form that's verifiable. They mention escorting, sailors are civilians with phones, maybe there's something out there.

Right, so this Hosseini guy doesn't understand much of the details of what he is talking about. In any organization, people with a politically loaded role will say whatever shit they think will have a positive impact on them. What he said sounds like wishful thinking and hints to the fact that his organization hasn't look into the technical details of the thing. They are at the definition of needs stage. He hasn't had the meeting with the guy that will explain to him what is possible yet.

It came from the guy they're quoting. Which I've noted, that quote is being reported as official confirmation of this - but the union he represents is a private entity - it's not a government body. The more I pry into this, the more stuff like that keeps popping up. Add in the whole 'decentralised/fractured/autonomous leadership structure' thing that's going on atm... Suss.

According to Bloomberg, it's being conducted through an "intermediary company linked to the IRGC". Unnamed. Ok. There's a fair bit of dubious citing revolving around this story - a lot of it refers to legislation passed a week ago, without linking it. I had to dig for that. What's interesting is the text available, published a week ago, never mentions BTC or USDT etc - neither does it mention yuan. It only refers to Rial by name - and states a requirement that a new company and digital platform is to be created and up and running within 3 months of things going into law. This was stated *a week ago*. And payments on that platform is to be done with digital currencies *developed with the participation of Iranian companies*.

How does the Hegemon prevail in the Thucydides trap scenario against 2 adversaries? For the longest time the thought has been, in the big one, Europe will fight Russia and the Pacific will fight China. Only once its adversaries' have fought 10 rounds in the ring, will the Hegemon stray from its hemisphere, fresh and prepared against a weakened alliance - preferably after the jus ad bellum for doing so has been provided. If you need an example of what this might look like, in some respects, this is how the Second World War played out (starting in the mid 30s). This is the crux of the 'Arsenal of Democracy' theory I have posited before. That is the optimum answer to the Thucydides trap - and once you are aware of it, you can't unsee the pieces slowly moving into place. In that context, the one major obstacle to enacting that plan currently is existing treaty obligations. If Blue wants Europe to fight Russia in a manner that America is not drawn into the fight, *it must be decoupled from NATO*. It is unavoidable - and as a result, entirely predictable. This may feel like throwing the world under the bus, and in a way it is, but in order to win the game, sometimes one has to make moves that don't align with being 'the good guy'. The players don't really care about that - that's more for your consumption. In that respect, ideally, if one has to make such moves, it would be prudent to make as many of them as possible attributable to one person, a fall guy of sorts, who will be out of office in ~3 years time, taking the blame with them. Si j'écoute BFM TV Trump a perdu la guerre et c'est terminé tout ça pour ça. Si je regarde le X français on est sur le même registre. Sur le détail tout est flou et je lis surtout des interprétations non vérifiées. Les seuls faits qui m'apparaissent certains à ce stade : - il y a un cessez-le-feu de quinze jours - il doit y avoir une réouverture de la circulation dans le détroit - les négociations sont désormais assumées par le leadership iranien C'est tout. Le détail des conditions n'est pas connu plus précisément, et on entend beaucoup de fantasmes. Je ferai une émission ce soir pour envisager diverses hypothèses, mais il n'y a pas de quoi s'exciter.
