One of the first supporters of my work passed away. Stephen Applebaum. I don’t have any words for it, I talked to him a few weeks ago when I found out his cancer was back. May his memory be a blessing.

Christmas 2020 was rough. Just before Christmas my dad had been admitted to hospital with serious COVID complications. On 27th Dec we had the phonecall that the end was nigh. He died 2 days later. I’m grateful to @HillingdonNHSFT that they let us visit dad at the end, instead of the dreaded ‘zoom call in the hospital car park’. Christmas means God was ‘born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth’. Amen. Revelation 14:13

I am currently starting at the beginning again, with Fielding's Tom Jones. A beautiful slip case Folio edition I picked up for three quid in Hove Oxfam, complemented by a superb reading on Audible by Bill Homewood. God willing, I hope not to leave the 18th century this year.
