Today, one of our Overwatch players used an anti-Black racial slur in the chat during a scrim. To the Black players, fans, and members of our community this affected: I'm sorry. I want to be unequivocal in condemning the language he used. There is no place for it in our game, in our community, or in this organization. We began looking into the incident the moment it was brought to our attention. After a thorough review, we have decided to release Rupal and remove him from our Overwatch roster. When we bring a player into Team Liquid, our expectation is that they represent themselves and us at the highest levels of professionalism; on stage, online, and in every space where they carry our name. We have each and every player go through media training, communication training, and sensitivity training in an attempt to educate them about the meaning of words and the weight they carry. We believe in that process and hold everyone who represents Team Liquid to that same standard. But today it was not enough, and we take that seriously. We will be reviewing our onboarding and retraining process. It's clear we need additional accountability structures implemented. Not just as a reaction to this incident, but as an ongoing commitment to the communities that make our games worth playing. Team Liquid has always tried to build something bigger than wins and losses. That means holding ourselves accountable when we fall short, and it means being honest with our community rather than hiding behind vague language. What happened today was wrong, and we felt we owed you a clear response. We also recognize that Rupal is a leader in NA's Overwatch scene, but he is also a young person who made a serious mistake in a very public way. We hope this becomes a moment of genuine reflection and growth for him. Not the end of his story, but a turning point in it. We wish him well. Steve, Co-CEO

Here are the Patch Notes for Day 1 PBE! With @Mortdog working on another project, I'll be helping Lead the Live team in the meantime. For the first day, we kept it to disruptive bugfixes and clear balance outliers as we collect more data for finer balance.

Long post ahead: This MSI was a challenge for me personally, with Stitch passing right before the event I was obviously grieving & it brought back a lot of the pain from my father dying right before last years MSI. I wanted to channel my grief & emotions in a positive way and also wanted to do my part in giving Canada the show they've so badly deserved for years. The schedule for the event itself is pretty grueling with many back to back show days, double BO5 days, doing the DIVE after shows, story meetings etc. I think this was compounded by how drained I was feeling emotionally for sure as well, and the fact that I was picking up a lot of extra days with others getting sick. The event itself was amazing, had fantastic games & a truly unforgettable crowd throughout. I've never felt so much love from fans in person and got to meet, take pictures with & sign things for hundreds and hundreds of fans. It was truly a joy to meet so many of you and hear stories about people who've been watching me since my wow pro days, grew up near where I did in Canada, have watched every episode of the DIVE and many other stories. I've been working really hard to make myself into someone who can excel in any role that's needed from me, and it was cool to be able to do my first on stage interview at a big event, my first international tri-cast as a PBP & to lean into some fun skit ideas I had for the desk. I'm so happy people enjoyed it all, and as I continually compare my current self to past versions of me I can see the growth which is very satisfying. I can honestly say having cast consistently since 2010 that I still love it, and am still hungry to get better and better each day. I've always been proudly Canadian and felt a really special connection to the event, which has made me all the more grateful to have been a part of it. It's easy to lose sight of what you have when you're looking constantly towards your next goal, but I am honestly so lucky to do something I feel this passionate about and to have so many people around the world enjoy and appreciate the work I do. This is absolutely the longest post I've ever made, but I felt like sharing how I was feeling with the end of MSI.
