Samsung… why did you remove true 10x optical from the plan?!!!
I really wish I had a real 10x optical lens with Expert RAW
Galaxy S26 Ultra vs OPPO Find X9 Ultra | 1x Main Camera Auto Mode 👀
There’s something a little off with the OPPO Find X9 Ultra main cam processing in Auto mode. Too early for final judgment testing still continues… but the behavior keeps showing up.
1️⃣ S26 Ultra — 24MP
2️⃣ S26 Ultra — 12MP
3️⃣ OPPO Find X9 Ultra — 12MP
And honestly… still confused why the OPPO main cam stays at 12MP, 15 with watermark here instead of higher-res output like the 3x lens at 26MP
Please check the cropped photos before judging 👀
@galaxyupdatesx@UniverseIce I don't doubt the HP6 is good... But is the HP2 really that bad? In my opinion, the phone has more significant shortcomings, such as in the telephoto and ultra-wide-angle lenses.
Oppo Find X9 Ultra vs Galaxy S26 Ultra
10x auto mode Point and shoot
Let’s be clear, I love the true 10x optical on the OPPO Find X9 Ultra. For me, it’s now the standard for what proper 10x quality should look like in good lighting, day or night.
Yes, it still struggles in some extreme or tricky light conditions… but that’s exactly where software matters most. OPPO can absolutely improve that with future updates, but people also underestimate how difficult this is and how much time it takes.
That’s why when a 10x digital zoom gets close to this level, it says a lot about how strong the software really is.
And honestly, in proper light conditions, I fully expect OPPO to win most 10x comparisons. Optical still has advantages software alone can’t fully replace.

Galaxy S26 Ultra vs. Oppo Find X9 Ultra
10x Zoom Auto mode after latest update
1- S26 Ultra 230mm 10x digital
2- S26 Ultra 230mm 10x digital EV -0.7
3- Oppo 10x optical f/3.5
4- Oppo 10x digital f/2.2
Which one do you prefer?
@TonyLR6 Very good yes. PS medium the way to go now. Everywhere small improvements. JPEG Expert RAW not bugged anymore. Better colours, a bit sharper. Good update imo.
Samsung finally fixing what mattered.
3x lens bug that kept switching to 1x? Gone.
JPEG preview in Expert mode? Fixed too.
April 2nd update quietly cleaned things up… and yeah, that’s a Great 👌
Some more wishful thinking from me today.
The biggest weakness of 5x/10x periscopes is that they are "slow" (usually f/3.0 or f/3.4).
If Samsung pairs the ISOCELL HP5 (200MP) with a 5x (ALoP) lens architecture, they are essentially building the most compact "telescope" ever put in a smartphone. They could achieve f/2.58 aperture at a 5x focal length! HP5 is currently the smallest 200Mp sensor at ~1/1.56-inch. Because it is so small, it can fit into camera modules that were originally designed for 50MP sensors.
With a 200MP sensor behind a 5x lens, you get a zoom ladder that looks like this:
- 5x: Pure optical output from the 200MP sensor (binned to 12.5MP for massive light gathering)
- 10x: A 2x in-sensor crop. Because you’re starting with 200MP, this 10x shot still has 50MP of raw data to work with. It would likely look better than the dedicated 10x optical lens on the S23 Ultra.
- 20x: A 4x in-sensor crop. You are still working with 12.5MP of "real" pixels.
And if they put a HP6 for the main, it will handle 1x to 4x. Then the ALoP periscope with a HP5 will handle 5x to 100x. By using 200MP on both ends, Samsung ensures that even "digital crops" have more resolving power than the old dedicated 10MP lenses ever did.
In terms of size and design, by using ALoP, Samsung can fit that massive 200MP HP5 sensor into the phone without having a "camera bump" that sticks out like it does now. It also leaves internal room for the variable aperture motor on the main camera.
I hope @SamsungMobile takes notes and puts these suggestions on the engineering table! Heh ..
