Tonight, our nation has reason to give thanks. The children and teachers abducted by Ansaru terrorists in Oyo State have been rescued by our security forces, alive and unharmed. No ransom was paid. No concession was made. I salute every officer and operative whose courage, discipline, and professionalism made this possible. To those who seek to spread fear through terror, know that the Nigerian state will pursue you relentlessly. We will protect our people, defend our communities, and never relent until peace and security prevail across our country. Lmao. These guys parade petty thieves. If they genuinely arrested 8 high-profile terrorists who orchestrated a 56-day mass abduction, those men would be sitting on the ground in front of national tv cameras surrounded by captured weapons and soaked in blood.

KIDNAPPED STUDENTS AND TEACHERS IN OYO STATE RESCUED FOLLOWING, SURGICAL INTENSE AND WELL COORDINATED OPERATIONS IN OLD OYO NATIONAL PARK AND OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY 1. Following an intelligence-led carefully planned and executed operations, on 10 July 2026, troops of the Nigerian Army, led by the General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, *Major General CR Nnebeife*, in collaboration with special units from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) specifically the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC),the Defence Headquarters with Special Forces elements from the Nigerian Army, Navy the Air Force and the Nigeria Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies as well as local vigilantes/hunters/Amotekuns, in a well coordinated operation rescued a total of 44 pupils and teachers kidnapped by terrorists from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on 15 May 2026. 2. The operations, which lasted for more than a month, focused on identifying the terrorists kingpins that masterminded the kidnapping, bursting and dismantling their networks and logistics links, including their informants and hideouts located within the Old Oyo National Park Forest, Oyo State. 3. As part of the operations, multiple arrests were made within Oyo State and in other locations across some States in the Country. These arrests completely disorganized the group, exerted overwhelming pressure on them and ultimately led the terrorist group to *unconditionally release* the pupils and teachers. Further operations are to be conducted. 4. It suffices to note that the operations were carefully planned and executed to avoid collateral damages and to equally ensure that the innocent children and teachers were safely rescued. However, there were some casualties on the part of the security forces. 5. The pupils and teachers are currently receiving medical attention in an undisclosed hospital and will be handed over to the Oyo State Government in due course so as to be reunited with their families. 6. The GOC 2 Division wish to on behalf of all the participating agencies most sincerely and respectfully thank and appreciate His Excellency, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for the Strategic Guidance, Support and for all the provisions that made the operations a huge success. 7. The GOC also wishes to once again thank the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde and indeed the good people of the State for their continous support to security agencies especially during the trying period. 8. The GOC also appreciates the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Hon Minster of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff and other Service Chiefs, Inspector General of Police and the Directors General DSS and NIA as well as Heads of other Security Agencies for their support and for the opportunity to relate directly with all the security agencies to ensure a seamless coordination and execution of the operations. 9. We sincerely thank the various media houses and indeed the entire Nigeria populace for their support, understanding and for having faith in the security architecture of the Nation. We urge all to remain vigilant and continue to support all security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would assist in the ongoing efforts to safeguard lives and properties across Nigeria. Reminiscing on my time at OAU. Given how most of our cities and towns are unplanned, in retrospect, the first thing OAU teaches you when you become a student is education around what is obtainable from a well-planned city. Let me list some from OAU. 1. Mountaineering is planned for every new student during my time. So you do that. 2. The architecture of each faculty and in some cases, departments is carefully planned. So, in a sense, you have something to look forward to, exploring from one faculty to another. Pit Theatre in the dramatic arts department comes to mind here. I always wanted to see what it looks like. I think it’s guarded (restricted entry) so I didn't get to view it until 400L. 3. The campus is built sectionally. So you have a hostel area, markets, an administrative area, recreation areas, etc. In terms of creating a sense of where to explore, the majority never get to explore the staff residence until they leave the school. I also missed the opportunity myself. 4. You have people also. Which is, sort of, a given, considering it’s a school environment. But during my time, it was the school that the best students wanted to attend. In that sense, you get a sense of being among great minds as you move around. It’s not just a sense though, it’s a reality. 5. There’s also work. You could just start a thing and in some sense export to make money. People sold things, started companies, organised, and facilitated. All with the audience around the school not requiring anything extra. 6. For most of us, it’s also where, let me whisper this, where we first learned about zebra crossing. I remembered hearing the word for the first time and wondering if it was some OAU language to call it a zebra crossing and if there was some interesting story behind it. From OAU, you learn a lot of things. And I’m grateful I went to Great Ife and not any other university. Spent only 2 months over the 4 years I was supposed to and only now wish is soaked in more of the university. I didn’t do all that could have been done, see all that could have been seen, or visit all that could have been visited. And that’s what a city, a well planed one, should leave you with, more and more to explore in it.

@optama I bingewatched a lot of Army Videos recently including that of General Alabi-Isiama narrating his POV on the Civil War and now I know that these pictures are worth a lot. In thirty years, many people would have told these stories differently but the pictures? They never lie.

@optama We should be hard on kidnappers.. that’s what we want to see. Not constant ransom payments and negotiations. Do you genuinely think the families are looking for fortitude or justice? What message does constant ransom payment and prisoner exchanges send ?

Really grateful for the safe return of the children and teachers abducted from Oriire LGA 56 days ago. Our priority now is to ensure they are reunited with their families and support their rehabilitation after this traumatic experience. We also commend the security agencies that took part in the rescue operations for their sacrifices. May the souls of those who paid the ultimate price rest in peace and may God comfort their families.

UPDATE ON RESCUE OPS | OYO ..in the course of the rescue operation, eight of the kidnappers were arrested and are now in DSS custody, while some of them were neutralised. There was no quid pro quo in the rescue as one of the terrorists, a kingpin, that the kidnappers demanded his release, is being prosecuted for his atrocities. The security agencies will give full account soon.

Thank a Soldier Initiative (TASI)🇳🇬❤️
Today, we extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to our gallant men and women of the Nigerian Armed Forces and all security agencies for the successful rescue of the children and teachers who were abducted in Oyo State. Your courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to protecting the lives of Nigerians continue to inspire hope in the face of adversity. While many slept, you stood watch. While others feared, you advanced with determination to bring innocent citizens home safely. This successful operation is a reminder that the sacrifices of our frontline troops are not in vain. We honor your resilience, your patriotism, and the risks you take daily to defend our nation and preserve the peace we all cherish. As a people, let us continue to encourage, support, and pray for our security personnel rather than spread narratives that undermine their morale. Our collective appreciation strengthens those who stand between our communities and those who seek to spread fear. To the rescued children, teachers, and their families, we rejoice with you and thank God for your safe return. May this victory renew our confidence that, through unity, professionalism, and steadfast resolve, Nigeria can overcome insecurity. God bless our gallant troops. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
