Our next door neighbors have 9-year-old triplets. They’re at our house a lot, go to the barn with us, come to the ice rink, and adore my teen daughter. She even babysits them. Everyone thinks they’re sisters. Today, one of them saw an elderly neighbor struggling with groceries in the pouring rain. No hesitation, one of the girls took off her jacket, ran over to the elderly man, covered the bags, grabbed a couple of bags, and helped him all the way down his long sidewalk and into the house. I followed behind, just keeping an eye on things. When he thanked her, she said, "My grandma says small kindnesses are how we fix big problems." Wow, quite a statement. Her grandma is battling cancer, so hearing that about did me in. In a world that loves to spotlight the worst, this was a good reminder that there’s still a lot of good out there. Especially in kids who haven’t learned to be cynical yet.

Formed in San Jose in 1970, this band went from gritty rock roots to smooth, radio-dominating hits. A mid-70s lineup shift changed everything… and somehow made them even bigger. Two completely different sounds, same band. They even hated their name. Do you know it?

People over 70 years old should be banned from driving in roundabouts
