Dear #IndieDev or #GameDev -- please take my one question poll. Also, please retweet and share. (I don't usually beg for retweets, but I'd really like a significant number of responses.) strawpoll.com/wby5QB2JByA

I'm finally talking about my project, but I'm not very active here anymore. See video below for better ways to follow my progress.

Hey everyone. My friend Syrilian is trying the streaming thing. If you're interested in @HuntShowdown, maybe check out his channel. He's streaming right now: twitch.tv/syrilian

There is a major flaw with that. Let's go through the following scenario. 1. You make an awesome game that has a small community. 2. I want to monetize that game and run my own servers. 3. I create a shitload of bots and constant exploits to erode the game and your business. 4. Your business closes and now I can monetize your work without anyone stopping me. This isn't unlikely as we've seen mass attacks such as with TF2 and all over the mobile market. The only defense right now is DMCA or other takedown measures. Devs legitimately have very little protections as-is and this would erode that further. If we make it mandatory that the servers cannot be monetized then who would be doing the enforcement? This question is especially true when we're talking about studios that collapse and no one is left.

@PirateSoftware I just watched youtube.com/watch?v=ioqSvL…. I like your thoughts. I agree with your stance. Alternative solution: require companies to release their server into the public domain when shutting down paid services. (That's complicated sometimes, yes) Thoughts?

Nice work, how did you sync everything? Does your walk animation include events which kick off the audio and FX?

When kids dream of #indiedev, they dream of how their #indiegame will work ... not the problems that must be solved to make it work. Floating point precision is one of those problems, particularly with "infinite" worlds. Congrats to @pat_level17 on solving it and making it work!
Patrick Brown@pat_level17

No more problems with floating-point precision! The player never leaves a fixed box, so the (x, y) coordinates are never larger than about 200. This video has the camera detached from the ship to show the effect. #indiedev #gamedev #indiegame #indiegamedev #babylonjs

@TheBergGame Not at all. This is awesome and it's the exact type of thing I like celebrating in the #IndeDev community. Tech that's working, and a demo of how it works is always valuable by me.

Yeah, I need to do smoking chimneys soon too. Mine's 2D. I'm torn between animated UVs or particles. I'll probably wind up with a combo of the two. It's the little things like this that bring a scene to life. #IndieGame #IndieDev

Looks good. Congrats on the progress. Also, I'm glad you called out the camera. That feels really good, but I wouldn't have taken note if you hadn't said something.

#playtest 🕹️: basic gameplay loop, navigation and enemies avoiding. Also added a parabolic effect for the UI 😏 #gameplay #arcadegame #indiegame #ue4 #unrealengine #madewithunreal #screenshotsaturday #indiedevhour #indieshowcase #indiedevhour #gamedev #indiedev #indiegamedev
